the field having withdrawn from
the conference. Also the Texas

in another conference and will
be missing from the track meet
for the first time in several years.
Howard Payne will be favored
in the track meet but both Mc-

could pull an upset. The Yellow
Jackets main strength will be in
the long distance races and in the
field events. Leslie Fambrough
Louis Hayes Allen Tipps and
Don Shepherd give Howard
Payne strength in the 880 and
mile runs. Bill Browning in the
shot put and discus Gus Schuman
in the javalin and Weldon Hill in
the pole vault are other Jackets
that wil be strong contenders
for first place honors.
The Indians will rely on Jerry
Reynolds Humberto Martinez
Don Taylor and W. T. Stapler to
carry the load. Reynolds should
cop firsts in the sprints and
Martinez will be counted on for
points in the 440 and 880. Taylor
is a strong contender in the broad
jump and Stapler will be attempt-
ing to repeat his discus victory
in last years meet and will also
compete in the shot put.

Anyone For Chanters?
Dr. Richard C. Von Ende di-
rector of the McMurry College
Chanters has extended an invita-
tion to all students now on the
campus but not members of the
mixed chorus to consider the
possibility of joining the singing
group next year.
Organized in 1923 the Chanters
make two singing tours each year
in Texas and New Mexico in ad-
dition to many one-day trips to
nearby cities and appearances in
Abilene.
They meet an hour each day to
practice and receive one semes-
ter hour of college credit per
semester for this participation.
Anybody for Chanters?
