Chapa, Saenz are BHS Students of the Month
BENAVIDES - The Benav-
ides High School Eagle Chron-
icle has announced the seniors of
the month for November. They
are Jennifer Chapa and Simon
Saenz, III.
Jennifer is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Victor M. Chapa of
Benavides. She is active in the
Benavides High School Eagle
Marching Band where she serves
as Drum Major.
Jennifer is also active in the
Future Teachers of America,
Simon Saenz, III

Jennifer Chapa
National Honor Society, Eagle
Chronicle and UIL spelling. She
was regional contestant in UIL
spelling for three consecutive
years. Jennifer has also been se-
lected for Who’s Who Among
American High School Students.
Jennifer's hobbies include
reading, modeling and dancing.
She also currently holds the title
for Miss Benavides 1990.
Her future plans are to attend
college at the University of Texas
at Austin and Major in Pharmacy.
Simon Saenz III is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Simon Saenz, Jr.,
from Benavides. Simon is active
in the tennis team at and has been
a regional contestant in boys
doubles for one year. Simon is
also active in the Future Farmers
of America, and the Future
Teachers of America.
He is also part of the National
Honor Society, UIL Science and
Literary Criticism. He achieved
the honor of making it to the re-
gional academic meet in Victoria

T. Sendejo
SAN DIEGO - Guadalupe T.
Sendejo, 72, passed away in a
Corpus Christi hospital. She was
a housewife.
Survivors include two daugh-
ters, Celina S. Hernandez of Los
Angeles and Armandina S. Vann
of Houston; one brother, Roberto
Tamez of Alice; two sisters,
Ofelia T. Escobar of Donna and
Aurora T. Garcia of San Diego;
five grandchildren and ten great-
grandchildren.
A Rosary was recited for the
deceased on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at
the Mauro P. Garcia Funeral
Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was
celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 9
at St. Francis de Paula Catholic
Church. Burial followed at the
San Diego Cemtery.

Home was in charge of the ar-
rangements.
Norma Villarreal
BENAVIDES - Norma Irene
Cantu Villarreal, 30, passed
away Tuesday, Jan. 8 in a Corpus
Christi hospital.
Survivors include her hus-
band, Alejandro; two sons, Fidel
A. and Alejandro Villarreal, Jr.,
both of Benavides; four daugh-
ters, Blenda, Alexandra, Jo Ann
and Yvonne Villarreal all of Be-
navides; her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Adan Cantu of. Realitos;
five brothers, Victor, Jose Luis,
Mario and Adan Cantu Jr., all of
Realitos and Gilberto Cantu of
Hebbronville; four sisters, Gra-
ciela Salinas of Hebbronville,
Armandina Ramirez, Lupita Gal-
lardo and Marisa Hinojosa all of
Realitos.
A Rosary was recited for the
deceased on Wednesday, Jan. 9,
at the Garza Funeral Home
Chapel. Funeral Mass was cele-
brated on Thursday, Jan. 10 at
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in
Realitos. Burial followed at the
Realitos Cemetery.
Garza Funeral Home was in
charge of the arrangements.
Fred A. Garza
FREER - Fred A. Garza, 69,
passed away Saturday, Jan. 12 at
an Alice hospital following a
brief illness.
He was a Navy veteran of
World War II. he was a retired

Jan. 14 at the Holmgreen Mortu-
ary Chapel in Alice. The body
was cremated.

ides, an honor student at Texas
A&I University in Kingsville,
was recently selected to Who's

American Universities and
