0 P Y HALE SCHALEBEN Edinburg, Texas July 11, 1951 Mr. Thos. L. James Sugarland Industries Sugar Land, Texas Dear Mr. James: I am wondering if Mr. Kempner ever leased his land in Finney County. You will recall that in January of 1950 you contacted me with regard to 161 sections of land which he wanted to lease in that County. At that time, it was impossible for me to work out a deal because the price which Mr. Kempner was asking for the lease was more than the price that leases were selling for in that area. Recently, there has been a gas discovery in Valverde County, which has greatly stimulated interest in that general area, and in the event Mr. Kempner has not already leased his land, it might be possible at this time to find a buyer for the lease at the price Mr. Kempner indicated he wanted for a lease on the property. If he has not already executed an oil and gas lease, and if he is interested in leasing the land, I would be glad to work on the deal if he would furnish me with a description of the property.' With best regards, I Very truly yours, Hale Schaleben
