Well. I am home from Houston, and
I crowded more real pleasure in those
three days than ar little.
Sunday t^ey said fifteen thousand
folks were at’the union depot to greet
the 132nd division of field artillery'
:> The women had gathered minions-of
’ roses and pansies, and showered the'
men as they got off the great train
The brass band was going and
Bcreams <Jf joy and tatightere In the
city auditorium sandwiches, coffee
and cake were served them. Mrs, 4-.
R. Howard told mb that the ladies
' Of Houston responded beautifully and
' balked the iovliest cakes for the boys.
The train was”* delayed until -t
‘O’clock in the afternoon. Two mien
1 went all over the city,’ announcing the
time of the arrival. Many little in-
teresting scenes among j the great
crowd I could write of, .but I shall only
tell of this:
A man was walking down one of
the main streets, leading a little purly-
headed bOy, evidently bent on' getting
there on time; the little chap wae $p
happy, the man was so Intent and
saw nobody nor noticed anything.
Again, as by chance, I saw the pair,
and a great big soldier boy was added
and carrying the child in his great
strong armfv They were so alike, I
rknew at once that the big brother had
come home .from France. He may [refreshments wereA’sdrf qd
