Sophomore social to
be held this weekend
Emily Chaffin
Student Reporter
Some students may find
themselves spending more of
their free time with their
social clubs or special groups
and less time with their class
as a whole. The officers of the
sophomore class want to
change that
The sophomore social will
be held this Friday at 7 p m a
chance for the whole class to
get together and have fun
The social will be held at
the Ramada Inn with the
theme of "Feed the Ducks "
Tickets are $10 per person
and it Includes dinner pic-
tures and entertainment
Although the idea for the
social came late the officers
said they managed to com-
plete the plans in time
"We tried to use everyone's
strengths" said Aaron Chase
sophomore class president
from Waxahachie. "This
wouldn't have been possible
without everyone helping "
The officers said organiz-
ing activities last semester
was difficult because of pledg-
ing so when they returned
from Christmas break they
wanted to plan something
immediately. Ashlie Clark
sophomore senator from
Austin was one step ahead of
them
"We came back from break
and Ashlie had already called
the hotel and booked every
thing" said Michael Dockery
sophomore sonator from
Springfield Mo "She's really
been great in helping plan this
social."
Dockery is helping out
with entertainment and is
working on a video for the
social.
"Hopefully we can do
some games and give away
prizes" Dockery said "and
the video should be pretty
funny"
Originally the ticket prices
were $25 per couple and $15
per person but as more stu-
dents bought tickets the offi-
cers lowered the price
"We are very happy with
the turnout so far" Clark said.
"We have over 180 and that is
very exciting "
This semester has a lot to
offer the sophomore class
Along with the social a retreat
has been scheduled for
March and several picnics
and other activities are
planned for the group Chase
said the officers want to have
a more spiritual focus as well.
'Hopefully we can get
some late night devotionals
going" Chase said. "It would
be great if we could just pray
and worship together."
"We want to let everyone
see that you can still get
together with your class even
'during Sing Song and club"
he said. "It's a good thing to
have class spirit."
