Pete Owens who has been iceog-
nlzed of late as one of the nation's
top-notch hurdlers will be out to
live up to his newly acquired tepu-
tation. Owens made the state's
track authotities take notice last
Satutday when he triumphed ovei

Relays' high Inn dies event.

Barbarians Take
Intramural Title
Climaxing the intiamural bas-
ketball tournament the Barbar-
ians lepiesentatives of Todd Hall
carried otf the championship
Tuesday night winning over the
Bain Knothalds by a scoie of
30-24 in one of the most exciting
games of the series.
Bill Nelson captain of the vic-
tois won offensive honors for the
night with five field goals and one
free toss for a total ot 11 points.
Many ot Nelson's shots weiu scor-
ed fiom near mid-couit with loop-
ing two hand tosses. Leo Aim-
sttong lanky Baibarian forward
woiked well under the goal and
"Seldom-fed" Clements played a
smooth floor game and chipped
in with six points in the pinches.
Etchison took second place in the
Baibanan scoting with seven tal-
lies. Willis Denman hooked the mesh
for eight points to pace the los-
ers. Amos Kggan turned In a
smooth game along with his six
points.
The Barbatians won the crown
after tasting defeat at the first of
the season at the hands of the
Knothalds. They won the con-
solation btacket and then tri-
umphed over the Tahoka Terrois
a late tournament entty for the
light to meet the Bain boys in
the championship tilt. The vic-
toiy was a sui prise to many for
he loseis weie never seriously
' vthreatened dining the l'otmer
comse of play.
In last week's elimination tilt
between the Barbarians and the
Teriois the champions weie vic-
torious Sii-lfi. Ktehison scoied 13
points for the winners and Bill
David was high for the Tetrors
with eight.
Tuesday night's game brought
to a close one of the most suc-
