The annual non-

for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and

While many students
begin their weekend this
afternoon eight
graduating seniors will be
presenting oral defenses of
their research theses a
requirement for their
graduation.
The students all in the
Academy of Freedom pro-
gram are to present their
theses papers to one or two
panels made up of
Academy faculty
members. Hearings are to
be held in the Democracy-In-Action
Room and the
Cabinet Room both on the
first floor of the Academy

friendliest freshmen. Fifty-
five students were
nominated in March but
only 18 students will be
recognized with the
awards.

Cafeteria Getting Mural
The Dorm Council at Sid Richardson Hall has taken steps to improve
Sid one of which is underway in the cafeteria now.
It Is a mural of Moses parting the Red Sea. This mural covers parts of
the cafeteria wall. The sketch has been drawn and palnUng Is the next
step
Painting the mural will be Glenda Morgan freshman mass com-
munication major and Steve Dolezal senior art major. Dolezal designed
and sketched the mural.
ROTC Scholarship Given
Handy Thames a sophomore from Arizona will be presented with a
three-) ear scholarship in physics from the US. Army through the HP
division of ROTC announced MaJ. Alan Jarvie chairman of the depart-
ment of mlhtar) science
Thames will receive free tuition and fees except for room and board
along with $100 a month
The Army offers two three and four year scholarships to students ex-
cept Bible majors that are enrolled in the university
In order to receive this scholarship one must appl) in the KOTl" depart-
ment in the Academy of Freedom
The student who receives the scholarship must join the Arim for four
years as a second lieutenant upon graduation
Professor Presents Lecture-Recital
Dr. Charles Thomas associate professor of English will present a
lecture-recital 7:15 p m. Monday in Winebrcnner 121
Entitled "Talcs of Terror" the lecture-recital will feature liter iture b

Dr. Thomas will lecture show slides and act out some of the five

BSU Sponsors Blood Drive
On Tuesday and Wednesday April 19 and 20 student1! will have the op-
portunity to possibly save a l-'e by participating in a campus blood drive
said Milta Mann Baptist Student Union spokeswoman
The blood drive sponsored b) BSU will be conducted from !) a m to 5
p m. at Jennings Hall Tuesday and Richaidson Hall Wednesdav
The drive will be conducted by the San Angelo United Blood Sen ices
Each donor will go through a screening process to assure he or she is
healthy enough to donate.
Miss Mann said "There is very little pain involved and it lasts only for
an instant The blood drawn is only a small amount of the body's total sup-
ply and it is replaced within days."
