Another club woman, Mrs.
Haule, o! Edgerton, Wis., tells
how she was cured of irregulari-
ties and uterine trouble, terrible
pains and backache by Lydia E.
Pinkham's Vegetable Compound.
"A while ag-o my health began to
fail because of female troubles. The
doctor did not help me. I remembered
that my mother had used Lydia E.
Pinkham’s Vegetable Compound
on many occasions for irregularities
and uterine troubles, and 1 felt sure
that it could not harm me at any rate
to give it a trial.
MI was certainly glad to find that
within a week I felt much better, the
terrible pains in my back and side
were beginning to cease, and at the
time of menstruation I did not have
nearly as serious a time as hereto-
fore, so I continued its use for two
months, and at the»end of that time I
was like a new woman. I really have
never felt better in my life, have not
hod a sick headache since, and weigh
20 pounds more than I ever did, so I
unhesitatingly recommend Vegetable
Compound." — Mrs. Mat IlArT.v, Krf-
gerton, Wis., President Household
Economics Club. — $5000 forfoH If original of

New Orleans, .La., Nov. 15.—
President Samuel Gompers at the
opening of the American Federation
of Labor Thursday delivered an im-
passioned warning to the members
of the organization that the imme-
diate future, of trade ainl labor as-
semblies was seriously endangered
by^the conflicting claims of juris-
diction made by different bodies.
Unless such things were approach-
ed in calutnesa and handled with
moderation, he declared, the labor
organizations of the country would
soon be involved in a conflict which
would, by comparison, dwarf all the
struggles in which labor organiza-
tions have so far been engaged. The
matter would, unless checked, he

The federation's aggregate income
for this time was $1,44,498 and the
expenditurCA $119,088. One of tho
receipts, $20,4**3 consisted of con-
tributions to the defense fund. Mr.
Morrison also stated that for the
elevent months, 1024 unions were j
chartered— u larger number than
for any entire year. Those addi-
tions increased the total number of
unions to 3659. The total mem-
bership is shown by the per capita
tax to lie 1,025,300, a gain of four-
fold in the last six years. Mr. Mor-
rison says the increase of the de-
fense fund tax has resulted benefic-
ially, and he advocates a still furth-
er increase of the per capita tax.
Reports from international and
local unions show that there were
1558 strikes, in which 412,871 per-
sons were involved. Out of that
number 352,967 were benefited and
14,016 were not. The total cost of
the strikes was $2,729,604. In the
federation there was 217 strikes, of
which 131 were won, 48 compromises
and 27 lost. Ten were still pend-
ing when the report was prepared.
The imTulier of persons involved in
the strikes was 34,380, number bene-
fitted 20,654, number worsted 2635.
The cost of the strikes in the way
of money expended by the unions
was $90,053. Two hundred and six-
tv-four wages, one union reporting
a gain of $1 per day and all the
others less. One hundred and fifty
unions reporte a reduction of hours.
The report of Treasurer Lennon,
the one brief document of the day,
showed the total receipts of the ot-
der for the entire year to have been
$152,312 and the total epcnscs
$120,086.

this county are very anxious for tho
coming of a cold wave, one that will
bring white frost and a big freeze,
that the; growth of the young wheat
may be choelrod. According to the
condition of the growing crops at
the present, grave fears are enter-
tained Mmt the young plants will
soon be jointing, in which event the

Williams, conductor on the Dodge
and Oakhnrst railroad, was fatally
shot by a negro who stole a ride on
his train. In a dispute about the
payment of his fare on arrival at
Oakhurst the negro became abusive,
refusing to pay his fare, pulled his
pistol and fired twice, one shot strik-
ing Williams id the abdomen, the
ballet piercing his intestines. In
the excitement the negro escaped.
