Ex-student joins
admissions staff
Nancy Pittard a 1979 graduate
of McMurry College and a native
of Mozcllc has been appointed
assistant director of admissions at
McMurry by Dr. Thomas Kim
president.
Miss Pittard a 1975 graduate
of Mozclle High School earned
her master's degree in reading
education from North Texas State
and taught elementary school two
years in Pilot Point. She has been
selling advertising in Denton the
past year.
During her years at McMurry
as a student Miss Pittard was
active in T.I. P. women's social
club Wah Wahtays.ee service
club and Indian Insight the
McMurry student foundation.
She was a cheerleader and was
elected Reservation Princess
during the 1978 Homecoming
festivities.
"Nancy was a distinguished
student here and we're happy to
have her back" Dr. Kim stated.
"She knows the college and we
know she will interpret it in a
good way to our prospective
College Series requirements
outlined; programs planned
am tull-time students must
attend at least four college scries
programs each semester. A
variety of programs will be
offered to "broaden the horizons
of learning and enhance the
cultural and intellectual life of the
college community" according to
Dean Gage Paine.
There are no departmental
limitations but a student may not
receive all four credits from one
type of program (such as all
concerts).
For those students who have
conflicts with meeting the re-
quired four attendances they
must contact Dean Paine. Anyone
failing to meet the requirements
will be placed on disciplinary
probation. If a student continues
to fail to attend the programs he
or she could be suspended from
the college.
The first college scries was the
Convocation. The next shcdulcd
program is the Film Festival. It
will be February 13 at 2 p.m. and
February 14 and 15 at 7 p.m. in
Radford.
Other scheduled programs arc:
Jazz ensemble February 22 at 8
p.m. in Radford Sikcs-Mclugin
lectureship February 28 at 7:30
p.m. and March 1 at 9:30 a.m. in
Radford "Romeo and Juliet"

March 7 in Ryan.

Week are still to be announced as
to their time and place.

Four Abilene United Methodist
churches arc joining forces to
form a ski trip for McMurry
students over Spring Break.
The trip which is being touted
as the Spring Ski Spree will leave

Wintcrpark Colorado for three
days of skiing and other winter
activities.
The group will travel all night
March 18 in Aldcrsgatc UMC's
bus and arrive at Wintcrpark in
time for breakfast Saturday
March 19. The group will stay in
deluxe condominiums complete
with an indoor pool Jacuzzi
sauna fireplace evening sleigh-
rides snow-tubing linens and a
fully-equipped kitchen.
The trip is being co-sponsored
by Aldcrsgatc First Methodist
St. Paul and St. James UMC.
Cost of the trip is only $165 for
three days accomodations ski
rental lift tickets and transporta-
tion. Meals arc not included.
A non-refundable S75 deposit is
due by noon next Friday Jan. 28
in one of the four sponsoring
church offices. The $90 bslsr.ee
will be due by noon Feb. 22.

Stenbolm to
speak here
Charles Stcnholm representa-
tive of the 17th Congressional
District will be conducting a
Town Hall meeting on the
McMurry campus Saturday after-
noon. Stcnholm who is entering his
second term as a Congressman in
Washington will be on hand to
answer questions beginning at
2:30 p.m. (or immediately follow-
ing the Dallas Cowboy-Washington
Redskin football game) in the
Mabcc Room of the United
Methodist Campus Center.
Students are encouraged to
attend. The Town Hall meeting is
open to the general public.
A AUW Scholarship
The local chapter of the Ameri-
can Association of University
Women will again be awarding
scholarships to local female
college students.
The scholarships which are
given to one mature female
student from each of the three
local colleges have been pre-
sented for the past 10 years by the
Abilene Branch.
Three S400 Maude King under-
graduate scholarships are grant-
ed to students at Abilene Chris-
tian University. McMurry Col-
lege and Hardin-Simmons
University. A $600 Jewel Davis
Scarborough scholarship is avail-
able for a graduate student.
The scholarships which are
financed by proceeds from the
AAUW's annual book sale are
especially intended for older
"non-traditional" female stu-
dents. The deadline for application for
one of the scholarships is next
Friday Feb. 4. For information or
application contact Jean Gore at
677-7159. Please call after 5 p.m.
FCA Meetings
The McMurry chapter of the
Fellowship of Christian Athletes
meets every Thursday at noon in
the East Lounge of the Dining
Hall. All members and anyone
interested in joining are invited to
attend.
