Dailey Wagner vie for VP post
Since the MSG office of vice
president is almost as important
and definatcly as much hard work
as the presidency the WAR
WHOOP put the same questions
to the vice presidential candi-
dates. As of Monday the candidates
were sophomore Linda Dailcy of
Garland and junior Bill Wagner of
Pasadena.
Here arc the questions and the
candidates' answers to the WAR
WHOOP qucstionaire:
WHAT EXPERIENCE HAVE
YOU HAD HOLDING OFFICE
AND WHAT DO YOU SEE AS
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS FOR
THIS OFFICE?
Dailcy: My experiences in
holding offices of church high
school and varied college organ-
izations has been wide. Most of
my duties concerned organization
of activities or acting as liason or
recorder for the organization.
The Vice President has many
duties associated with the student
body and relating their ideas to
other bodies (MSG admintstra-

the best man for the job. Mainly
because I have a better ability to
get things done.
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO
CHANCE ABOUT THE MSG
AND ITS FUNCTION ON CAM-
PUS? Holdcn: My number one
priority is to develop a better
feedback system between the
students and the MSG. Also I
would encourage better atten-
dance of students at MSG meet-
ings. I would hope to give
stronger leadership and direction
and to develop better relation-
ships between the various differ-
entials. Bynum: I would like to see MSG
serve more areas of student
involvement. Also to smooth out
some areas of MSG that are in
progress now. When someone
tries to come in and change
everything you spend every mi-
nute trying to change and don't
get anything done. I would like to
bring a happier atmosphere
wncrc senators and executive
council members don't look at
MSG so much as a job but
something they will enjoy and put
forth 100 percent in what they are
doing.
DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIFIC
PLANS YOU'D LIKE TO TRY IF
ELECTED?
Bynum: There are a few ideas
that I have just off the top of my

well as generating new ideas for
student activities. My exper-
iences in coordinating publiciz-
ing and finalizing activities at
both church and school would
lend itself to this job very well.
The ideas successes and failures
of these many ventures I have
undertaken would aide mc in
doing my best for MSG.
Wagner: I was a sophomore
senator to MSG and am currently
a junior senator. I am also vice
president of Makona social club.
head. I would like to bring more
spirit to McMurry events. A
student section in the new stands
on the football field where the
band and students can sit and get
involved without others looking
down on them. Not only in
football but basketball volleyball
and track too. McMurry is bles-
sed with many outstanding
musicians. We have the band
jazz ensemble Chanters and also
a good drama department.
We arc blessed with good ath-
letes. We need to make sure they
arc noted for their efforts. The
intramural program needs to be
looked into and improved. I would
continue to support our lobbying
in Austin for financial aid. There
are some organizations that need
to be strengthened. As you get
into the year there may need to
be some things changed and that
would be a priority. There are
many Ideas I have and there are
a few that the students have. I
would like to listen to all students
before I set down any specific
plans.
Holdcn: I plan to keep the video
movies in the student center.
Also I would meet with the other
two colleges in town at least once
a month to improve relationships.
Mainly I'm going to use all my
ability to increase student par-
ticipation in all programs and
events and to develop new
events which will make students

I am friendly and can work well
with people. I am a hard worker
and conscientious about my job. I
feel I make sure tasks arc
completed and am trustworthy
and fair-minded. Above all I care
about McMurry and I want to sec
the college continue on its road to
excellence.
WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL
SET YOU APART FROM THE
OTHER CANDIDATE AS THE
BEST PERSON FOR THE JOB?
Wagner: I have two years of
experience as a member of MSG.
I have served as chairman on two
committees. I know how MSG is
run and the problems it encount-
ers. Dailcy: I feel that my individual
assets will set mc apart from my
opponent as their quaitics will
set them apart from mc. My
ideas my dcrcrmination and my
willingness to work hard to do my
best at the job arc features that I
will bring to the position of vice
president.
HONESTLY HOW DO YOU
SEE YOUR CHANCES OF WIN-
concerns
want to be more active.
I would like to sec the students
support our sports teams 100
percent and the same for intra-
murals. I will do what the
students want to do and get it
done. I will work with the
Trustees and Administration to-
ward the improvement of the
general atmosphere on campus.
ANY ADDITIONAL COM-
MENTS? Holdcn: This last year is my last
at McMurry and I would like to
sec it be the best for everyone. All
I ask is that if the students feel
that I can do the job to their
standards that tey give mc their
full support.
Bynum: In closing I wuld like to
remind students that I am run-
ning for president because I want
to work for the student body and
make McMurry the kind of place
WE want it to be and not just
what I want it to be.

NING THE ELECTION?
Dailcy: I have as good a chance
of winning as my opponent does.
Wagner: I think my chances arc
good. I have been elected to office
twice before.
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKDE
TO CHANGE ABOUT THE MSG
AND ITS FUNCTION ON CAM-
PUS? Wagner: I want the Student
Association to be aware that MSG
is run FOR them. I want to
encourage students and faculty to
give MSG suggestions for im-
provement. I also plan to continue
the current administration's cor-
respondence with HSU and ACU
student governments.
Dailcy: I would like to sec MSG
serve EVERYBOD'S needs -those
on and off campus. I would
like to sec the students feel like a
part of McMurry and let them sec
that they can make a difference in
the school and its activities.
DO YOU HAVE ANY SPE-
CIFIC PLANS YOU'D LIKE TO
TRY IF ELECTED?
Dailcy: As far as specific ideas
I have none. There arc many
general ideas I have concerning
student concerning student activ-
ities. I would like to sec that the

students are lntormed of ALL
activities on campus in the var-
ious departments - the new
electronic new service is a big
help in that area. I would like to
see an informal lecture program
by the facultystaff for the stu-
dents - one that would be held on
a regular basis. I would also like
to sec student activities of some
sort going on EVERY WEEKEND.
There arc many students that arc
far from home. They need some
type of activity on campus to help
the campus seem more livable.
Wagner: 1 want to vary the MSG
dances in terms of them and
music. I also want to "liven up"
the Campus Center in the even-
ings. ANY ADDITIONAL COM-
MENTS? Wagner: None.
Dailcy: I have many ideas that I
would like to contribute to Mc-
Murry. More specifically I'd like
to sec the students represented in
a fair way - all students. I want to
sec people become excited and
involved in McMurry - make it a
part of their education and their
social lives. A good memory to
carry with them the rest of their
life.
