Tipi Village highlights Homecoming
By LESLIE KINLEN
Editor
The excitement is in the air once
again as the Reservation is brewing
with activities just around the
corner Many students will be
happy this time next week when
classes will be dismissed due to the
many activities that arc scheduled
for homecoming. Many will be
there both young and old short
and tall. It is a time when most of
the students' family members come
to sec how they arc faring in col-
lege. At McMurry homecoming Is the
best time to come because that is
when it is at its best. It is in full
bloom. It is such an experience
that It was In a story in LIFE
magazine before!
Tills is a compliment not only to
the school but to the students as
well. For it Is they who put all of the
work Into TIPI Village that makes it
what it is.
Every year it Is becoming a
st rongcr and stronger competition
as to who will win the honor. Pi
Delta Plil has had that honor for the
past two years but each year Is a
different story.
The way TIPI Village works is
each year the various social clubs
who participate meet about a
month before homecoming and
draw for plots. After that it Is up to
the clubs to obtain as much In-
formation about their club's tribe
as possible. Tills information is
then passed on to the children who
come for the TIPI tours as well as
the judges who will be here Satur-
day morning at 10 a.m. After that
only they know who has won until
halftimc at the football game when
the winners arc announced.
It is a very exciting time as well
as an educational one. Let's get
every one out there this year and
let's have a ball!!!
