12-1 Tuesday. (Photo - Darcy McMichael)
It may have been April Fool's
Day, but the Lady Owls 10-0 loss to
the Sinton Pirates Thursday, April 1,
was no joke.
The Lady Owls held the Lady
Pirates 0-1 to the bottom of the
fourth when Sinton put away three
runs to put Odem down by four.
The Lady Pirates finished off the
game in the bottom of the sixtj^ with
six additional runs to put the l6-run
rule into effect.
After the cushy win over the Lady
Owls, Sinton has now secured the
district championship.
Odem finished the game with no
runs, two hits, and three errors.
The Lady Pirates finished with 10
runs, 10 hits and no errors.
The last time the two teams met,
the Lady Owls lost to their district
rivals 9-8.
After a not so happy ending
Thursday, the Lady Owls were able
to regain their composure with a 12-
2 win over Aransas Pass Tuesday.
The Lady Owls got a slow start
on the board, but were able to pick
things up in the fourth and fifth
innings where they combined for
nine runs and ended the game in
five innings.
Aransas Pass put four pitchers on
the mound with Tanya Rodriguez
getting the loss. Combined the four
pitchers gave up 17 walks.
"We were looking to hit the ball
early, but AP just wasn't giving us
any good looks at the plate so we
settled on the walks," head coach
Gary Epps said.
Pitcher Hope Ortiz improved her
record to 15-6. The team will head
to Ingleside Friday, April 9, to settle
the tie for second place with the
Mustangs.
