•Stephen Wayne Metoyer, 30, of Corpus Christi
was arrested on a bond forfeiture charge with an
original offense of possession of a controlled sub-
stance-cocaine.
; ‘Deputies met with a complainant at 6:02 p.m.
at the 9000 block of CR 505 in Mathis regarding a
theft. The complainant said that a man who the
complainant knew asked to use the restroom of his
residence. He said he later found his 9mm missing
from his nightstand. A witness statement and
premises owner statement were filled out for
deputies.
What led you to the Sinton-Odem
Police Department?
I had a desire to work for a small
agency, but not so small that the
town had too found was strong with-
in smaller agencies.
What are five aspects of your job
that you enjoy?
The satisfaction of knowing that I
made a difference, whether it’s
removing a drunk driver off the
streets, making a home safe by
removing an aggressor, or even sim-
ply giving someone directions to a
location.
Carrying the respect of the badge
and the uniform I hear behind it.
Knowing that I’m continuing the
sworn duties and the importance of
upholding that, just as those officers
before offered.
I also wanted that “close” working
relationship with officers. Knowing
that people can turn to and come to
me when problems arise and actual-
ly having the authority to provide a
solution.
Finally, having the public express
to me that they feel a sense of safe-
ty when I am seen.
What do you enjoy about the City
of Sinton and Odem?
It’s a small town, but not so small to
where life seems to be at 'a stand
still.
What is something you would like
the citizens of Sinton and Odem to
know about the police depart-
ment?
It becomes difficult for us when
citizens feel that they are more famil-
iar with the laws than we are, main-
ly because of information they have
gathered from television or from
movies.
I would like for them to know that
we perform our duties and act upon
complaints based on our training,
our experience and what we know
the courts will accept and will not
accept. When we are unable to act
on a complaint, it is not because we
feel that their situation is not impor-
tant, but merely because there is not
enough evidence to bring a person
to trial.
What are three words that
describe who you are?
Fair, understanding, respectful.
What has been your most exciting
moment on the job?
I was engaged in a small vehicle
pursuit with a drunk driver.
The pursuit was exciting and what
was even more exciting was remov-
ing the driver from the streets to pre-
vent someone from being harmed.
What separates the Sinton-Odem
Police Department from other
police departments?
Mainly the close relationships of
the officers.
Where do you see the Sinton-
Odem Police Department in five
years and what are you contribut-
ing to help reach that goal?
That mainly depends on how
much the population grows within
the city. Larger population means
greater services; greater service
calls leads to a greater need for
man-power. What I can do for now
with the agency is to continue help-
ing people and let them know that we
are here for them.
What has been your greatest
accomplishment?
As far as my life accomplish-
ments, I would say graduating high
school, completing military training,
graduating the police academy and
becoming a sworn officer with a law
enforcement agency.
What is the single most valuable
piece of information that you have
learned since working with the
Sinton Police Department?
In small towns ther is limited man-
power, which means you work by
yourself often.
Respect, even in a small town,
goes a long way.

CR 505 north of Mathis at 11:58 p.m. regarding a

he left the residence and shined the light on him
and then exited the patrol car. According to reports,
the man appeared nervous.
He was ordered to put his hands on the patrol
car because of his intoxicated state and then hand-
cuffed him. He was told to tell deputies where the
narcotics were because if he arrived at the facility
with narcotics, the charge would be far more seri-
ous. He told deputies he threw the narcotics in the
grass. After searching the subject when the other
deputy arrived, they found a rolled up dollar bill and
two plastic baggies with a white powdered sub-
