October 10: There was an
Area 10 FFA Second Range Judging
Contest in Sinton. Lori Stephens
received second place high
individual in green hand land
judging. B.J. Squires received third
place high individual in Chapter
Farmer Range Contest. The
Chapter Farmer Range Team
placed seventh in the Range
Contest. The Drama Club
journeyed to the Harbor
Playhouse, Wednesday and
attended the Young People's
Theater performance of "The
Wind in the Willows." Odem High
School students Aaron Clay and
Gina Garcia are among many of
the students around the Corpus
Christi area performing in the
this production.
October 11 : A pep rally was
held at the gymnasium at 2:55
p.m. Students showed their spirit
and cheered for the volleyball and
football teams and the games later
that night.
October 12-13: Saturday there
was a cross country meet at Rob
and Bessie Welder Park in Sinton.
Odem runners came home
without a victory, but improved in
both their time and speed. The
Owl Band participated in the Pre-
Contest Marching Festival at
Robstown. The band returned
home with a 2 rating. On Sunday
Student Council members spread
homecoming cheer by painting the
windows of businesses throughout
town. Students also attached blue
and gold streamers along the
highway.
October 14: Students started
the Homecoming Week
celebrations by dressing up for
Pajama Day. Tuesday's dress up
day was Nerd Day. The dress up
day for Wednesday was Toga Day.
Go Bananas Day was the theme for
Thursday and Friday will be Blue
and Gold Day.
October 15: Juniors took the
PSAT test from 8:15-11:30 a.m. in
order to prepare themselves for
the upcoming SAT testings.
Homecoming queen elections also
continued and the run-off
elections were held Wednesday.
Finalists were April Cuellar
(Band), Bettina Luis (BAA), and
Sara Mclver (FFA).
October 16: The freshmen
took the PLAN test at 9:00-11:00
a.m. Members of the FFA held a
luncheon Wednesday and enjoyed
hot dogs, chips, and drinks.
October 17: Freshmen
continued taking the PLAN test
from 9:00-11:00 a.m. The seniors
began their collection of rags and
will wrap the "O" during Activity
Period. The burning of the "O"
will begin at 7:30 p.m. The junior
varsity team will be at West Oso
for the game at 5:30 p.m.

October 18: Friday a
Homecoming pep rally will be held
at the Owl Stadium beginning at
2:30 p.m. At this time all
Homecoming queen candidates
will be announced. Also the
Homecoming King, known as Mr.
Irresistible, will be announced and
presented. Pre-game ceremonies
will begin at 6:50 p.m. in Owl
Stadium with the announcement
of the 1996 Homecoming Queen.
October 19-20: Saturday the
Owl Band will compete against
area high schools in the UIL
Marching Contest in Sinton
beginning at 5:00 p.m. The
Calallen Cross Country meet will
be held at 7:30 a.m. Sunday,
Student Council members will
clean up the town to end the
Homecoming week celebrations.
