1st Baptist Sonshine
By Brother Larry Holden
Thought it hasn't rained in
some time, this is a
beautiful/wonderful day because
Jesus Christ lives! Our
community and church family has
had a lot of excitement lately. Bro.
Paul Hesse from Sacred Heart
Church invited all the community
churches to Edroy Gin last Sunday
at 2 p.m. to pray for rain. We had
three ministers and a total of 63
people in attendance. The wind
was blowing lightly and the time
we all spent praying for our
farmers and ranchers together
was refreshing.
Sunday evening we had Bro.
Gibson Nesbitt from Rockport
come and share about his Blanco
Baptist Association Resort
Ministry. His testimony was
great. He ministers to several of
our area parks by taking a church
service to the people. He has
received very good response.
Tuesday our church held the
Blanco Baptist Association
Mission's Banquet for 1996. We
had a super meal prepared by our
church family. Our kitchen
committee always does an
excellent job. We had 106 in
attendance from churches all over
our association. Special music was
presented by the Angelic Gospel
Mass Choir with Bro. Floyd
Stephens. Dr. James Semple,
Director of the State Missions
Commission from the Baptist
General Convention of Texas was
present.
Bro. Samson will host our
youth in the Breakfast Club
Sunday at 8:45 a.m. We will also
have our All Church Praise,
Worship and Testimony Service
Sunday at 6 p.m. We will observe
the church ordinance of baptism
during this neat service.
Vacation Bible School will be
June 3-7 from9 a.m. until noon for
ages four through 6th grade. Fore
more information call 368-4091.
Remember if you do not have a
church family we are here for you
and we care!
National
Seashore
Gets Trees
Seedling oak trees were given
to the National Seashore by Mary
Colquhoun, school advisor for the
National Wildlife Federation at
Odem Elementary.
When she visited the Earth
Day Event in April she learned
that the National Seashore is in
need of oaks. She presented them
with five she has grown from
seeds in her yard for the last two
years. They were given on behalf
of the Odem Elementary School as
it's Earth Day activity. Park
Rangers on Padre Island near
Malaquite Beach will plant the
trees which were accepted by
Park Ranger Darrell Echols of
Padre Island NationalSeashore.
They will be glad to accept
more if anyone has trees to
donate. They may be left at the
National Seashore office in Flour
Bluff.
