Downtown Lions Club and

Twenty-three pints of
blood were collected in the
last blood drive in Kermit and
since that time 93 pints have
been used by Memorial
Hospital, a blood drive
spokesman said.
“We urgently need area
residents to donate blood to
take care of current needs
and emergency situations,”
they commented.
One Kermit resident,
William Powers, has donated
eight gallons (64) pints of
blood over the past 20 years.
He is an O negative donor and
was recently cited for his
unselfish giving of blood.

Plan Banquet
Today At Noon
Members of Kermit
Downtown Lions Club will
host an “Old Monarchs
Award Banquet” Thursday
(today) at the Commi^iity
Center.
The banquet will begin at
12 noon.
All Lions and their ladies

with a score of 66 to 61 here

Jacket players averaged 61
percent at the free throw line
during the Pecos game and
scored 26 of the 66 points

Sale, Auction
Set Saturday
Kermit Independent
School District will hold its
second annual garage sale and
auction Saturday, Dec. 8, at
the Old Third Grade Building
on the corner at Campbell
and Poplar streets.
The garage sale is
scheduled from 8 a.m. until
noon. Merchandise includes
student desks, light Fixtures,
doors and other odds and
ends.
An auction beginning at
2:30 p.m. at the same
location will feature a couple
of metal latches, a large
hydraulic jack, room-sized air
conditioners and a couple of
“fair to middlin’’ record
players.
The most unusual item for
a: KISD sale will be the
auctioning of k -bedroom
suite. The furniture including
double bed, chest, dresser and
mattress and springs, was a
part of the KHS Homemaking
Cottage when house cleaning
and bedmaking were a part of
the subject agenda.
Everyone, individuals and
organizations, are welcome to
the sale, according to Julian
Dawson, director of plant
services for , KISD. He invites
everyone to “just come and
bring your money.”

three, Holt four, Berzoza four
and Williams one.
Michel and Berzoza came
through with six points each
in the final quarter, mostly
free throws, and Mitchell
added three for 15 points for
the quarter and a final score
of 66.
Michel was high point man
for the Jackets with 22
points, Mitchell second with
14, then Berzoza with 11,
Holt with 10, Williams with
five, and Widner with four.
In Monday night action in
Monahans, the Jackets lost by
55 to 57 to the Loboes and
almost caught up after
trailing 19 to 30 at the half.
The Kermit team averaged
66 percent of its free throws,
making 15 or the 23
attempts.
Duff Michel again led the
Jackets in scoring. He hit the
basket for 24 points dusikg
the game, two in the first
quarter, six in the second
quarter, six in the third and
10 in the final quarter.
Robert Holt was number
two in total points with 12,
having racked up two in the
first and third quarters and
eight in the fourth.
Cole Mitchell scored eight
points during the game, four
each in the second and third

Cleaning the exterior of Winkler County Courthouse got underway Monday as workmen
used high pressure solution to spray the bricks. Windows and screens also are scheduled for
reworking or change to make the exterior renovation complete. The work was authorized
by Winkler County Commissioners.
