Omegas Select IffiLiss
M’liss Morck, a senior element-
ary education major from Seguin,
has been selected by the Omega
Taif“Tfhternity as their sweetheart
for 1964-65.
At 1:00 a.m. last Sunday, fol-
lowing the football game against
San Marcos, members of the
fraternity serenaded M’liss and
presented her with a dozen long-
stemmed roses. Ray Ludwig
president of the Omegas, made
the presentation, which was. view-
ed by a number of curious on-
lookers in Trinity and Baldus
halls.
M’liss will be formally present-
ed to the student body and resi-
dents of Seguin at the football
game tomorrow night.
M’liss, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Theos Morck, succeeds Dede
Morgan of Dallas, last year’s
sweetheart.

Cheerleaders Worked,
Gained 3rd Place at SMU
“Bulldogs fight! Bulldogs fight!
Bulldogs fight!” So goes one of
the many new yells that Texas
Lutheran College cheerleaders
Gayle Dittmar, Ronnie Murray,
and Diane Graham learned while
attending the Southern Methodist
University cheerleading school in
August.
The three TLC representatives
reached third place in final com-
petition in the college division.
One hundred and fifty spirit boost-
ers from many Texas and out-of-
state colleges including SWTSTC,
Sam Houston, McMurry, Tarlton,
-Howard Payne and Texas A&l
participated in the daily competi-
tion in which the TLC leaders re-
ceived two first places.
The school is run by the Harki-
mer Company of twenty-four in-
sti’uctors which holds cheerlead-

Movie Continues
“Question 7” continues its three-
day run in Wupperman Little
Theater tonight as a joint project
of the Guadalupe Ministerial Al-
liance and TLC.
Winner of 22 international
awards, this action-packed drama
set behind the Berlin Wall, has
been endorsed by Protestant and
Catholic clergymen for viewing
by all age groups.
A special children’s perform-
ance is set for 9 a.m. Saturday
morning. No admission is charged
at any performance. However, a
free will offering will help defray
costs of the film.
Starting time tonight and Satur-
day night is 7:00 p.m.
States. The curricula of the
five-day school included present-
ing two yells in competition each
morning, a ninety-minute class in
tumbling and acrobatic stunts,
and learning two new yells every
night.
The other varsity cheerleaders,
Linda Jones, John Neese and Dick
Lee, arrived on campus the week
before the Sul Ross game to learn
the new yells and get in shape.
After the freshman leaders were
elected, the varsity squad taught
them the yells and stunts. Fresh
men cheerleaders are Jane Rine-
hart, Diann Flemming, Kathy
Pfluger, Jimmy Hellender, James
Howard and King York.
The three yell leaders were the
first in TLC history to attend
cheerleading school. In years be-
fore, the cheerleaders depended
on accumulated skills and know-
ledge passed down from squad to
squad. Those who went consider
the school very beneficial and
hope that the entire squad may
attend next summer.
At present, the primary prob-
lem is funds. The Student Senate
provided funds- for the three to
attend the school in addition to
j the annual $125 the squad receives
every year to cover uniform,
transportation, and decoration ex-
penses. The squad hopes to apply
for next year’s yell school session
early enough to be counelors
thereby eliminating the cost of
room and board.

What Is cs College?
A College Is Things
It is a small city in which every-
one goes to school.
It is a community of scholars with
all the needs and problems of
any other community.
It is books and people and labora-
tories and music and art.
It is buildings and sidewalks and
grounds and the chapel bell
ringing.
It is searching and finding; minds
coming awake, learning the
thrill and excitement of new
discovery.
It is friendship, deepening into
love, and sometimes disappoint-
ment and heartbreak.
It is hope and serious purpose, the
joy and excitement of growing
up.
It is the development of our hu-
man resources, the strong de-
fense of all that matters most
(The above was found in a
bulletin from Gustavus Adolphus
College. The author was not noted.
It is an excellent statement which
can be used by any Lutheran col-
lege.—Ed.)
4:30 in Riebe Dining Hall.
According to Carolyn Bartels,
president of the Intersorority
Council, the afternoon is planned
to acquaint new students with the
social sororities at TLC. Each
sorority will prepare a display of
their emblem, pin, motto, colors;
flower and scrapbook. A booklet
of this information will also be
available for those present.
Entertainment and refreshment8
will be provided by the sororities.
Faculty women and wives of
faculty members will be special
guests.
