GREATEST SOCIAL EVENT OF TOE SEASON
’ IS THE MAMMOTH POPULARITY CONTEST
THOSE NOMINANED SHOULD WRITE OR CALL ON
CONTEST MANAGERS AT ONCE.
_
HR ill GONTESTMETS ENTERED1
The Most Attractive List ol Premiums Ever Offered in This Section ol
Texas—Win a Premium in Eight Weeks That Is
Worth Eight Months Effort.
The Great Popularity Contest is
fast developing into the most inter-
esting and exciting social event of
the present year and to judge from
the interest that is being manifest-
ed in the nominating of contestants j
the battle of ballots to follow will'
be a veritable carnival of mirth and !
merriment.
Nothing is more interesting than
a battle royal for popularity honors |
between evenly divided forces of
bright American women and pretty j
intelligent children.
The women worth while are the
ones that endeavor to accomplish!
things worth while not those con-
tent with the ordinary every day i
humdrum sort of existence. The
Great Contest opens a new field to 1
those energetic ladies who have at
their disposal a portion of each day
which they wish to devote to some
occupation.
Proof of the interest the people *
are taking in the Great Contest is
shown by the long list of nomina-j
tions that have been received dur- i
ing the first two days of the mam-;
moth campaign and which appear.
by the hundreds in this issue. Not.
only was Waxahachie well repre- j
sented in the list of nominations i
but the adjacent territory did its j
share of nominating and numbers!
of other nominations will no doubt.1
arrive from the surrounding terri- j
tory within the next few days. Ot;
course there will be so many mak-1
ing the race that it will not require'
a very great amount of effort on
the part of any contestant to make j
a creditable showing necessary to j
win one of the valuable premiums'
from the fact that there are just j
a certain number of subscriptions
to be gotten within the specified
contest period.
However there will be a great
many withdrawals within a sh'ori
time leaving the race clear to those
who have the ambition and courage
to do things worth while.
There are two means by wmcu ;
votes can be secured first: by a lit-
tle voting coupon good for twenty
votes which will appear in each is-;
sue of the Daily Light and Weekly
Knterprise and on “new” subscrip !
tions secured. Votes will not be
given to any one person for less
than three months to the Daily or
one year to the Weekly or more
than three years in advance to the
Daily or four years to the Weekly.
No contestant is allowed to “re
serve” votes at home but they are
required to turn In all votes secured
on subscriptions and advertising at
least every two days.
The Contest Manager will “re-
serve” more than one-half of every
contestant’s votes until the end of
the race. The votes will be counted j
every noon and each contestant’s j
vote standing will be increased dai-
ly. but all of their votes will not ap-
pear in the paper. The Contest
Manager will “reserve” a portion
of everyone’s vote so that no one
will know “w'ho’s who” during the
closing days of the race therefore
the most deserving workers will
receive the valuable premiums. The
Contest will be aandled by the fair-
est known methods.
Those desiring to make the ra e
should write or call at the Contest
Department immediately for a cou-
pon book with which to secure
votes on subscription.
A Vacation Chance.
This is just the chance the chil-
dren have been waiting for. Some
thing to do during vacation that
would be of benefit to them. We
want all the children to see the llt-
| ‘ highschool” pony being exhibited
at the Davenport livery stable.
Costs Nothing to Enter.
It costs you nothing to enter and'
thousands of dollars worth of pre-
miums are hanging in the balance
and will be awarded to some one
on July 20. Why not you?

nominated are requested to call on !
or write the Contest Manager im- j
mediately for a coupon book and
full information how to secure |
votes. A coupon good for 20 votes:

among your friends to assist you j
