Paper read at open meeting at
Methodist c hurch " IVmih>ranee
Sunday :
When we undertake to do a
tiling we believe in sticking to
it until i' i- finished. I guess
that is your doctrine t<x>. If
wi' had undertaken to farm this
ye.tr. we should have worked
away at that farming incessant-
ly. if the drought did burn up
the corn and the rain did sprout
the cotton seed in the bolls.
That is the only way to succeed
you know. Life means endeavor
and the motto of the W. T. 1'.
woman is : "Keep on a keeping
on." We dare not give up. There
is too jauch at stake.
We won prohibition for Jeffer-
son and the men took up the
good work and gave us prosper-
ity as we never had before. Mr.
YVard donated our city water
and money to renovate our school
buildings. Mr. Husseyand Mr.
Whelan contributed modern
stores concrete sidewalks anil a
spirit of confidence in our suc-
cess. They set in motion our
progress and others helped to
advance it until we i.ow have a
splendid new court house and a
more splendid live Commercial
Club And others watched tlie
insinuating serpent of the Liq-
uor Traffic as it kept creeping
in and gave it such sharp blows
as to drive it out.
A cloud has come over our
sunshine. Crops are bad and
when crops are bad commerce
suffers and the price of liv'ng
soars hiirh and higher. The
Liquor Traffic thinks that we
are down a.id is trying to chlo-
roform us. Do you suppose|
that we will take the dose with-
out a murmur? Do you suppose
that we will give up Jefferson
just because the weather has
been unfavorable? Adversity
strengthens those who are in
earnest and we are much in
earnest. When i rops are short
uihi wooa is scarce anu living
costs high shall we increase our
burdens by putting a saloon at
our doors? Will the money
spent there give us wood or food
or clothing? Will our happiness
be increased it our boys become
drunkards? We have had Gouge [
Kyes on one side of us; do we
| want them on the other side?
j The liquor men think they can
overcome us because we are
weak. The fighting blood Hows
as strong as ever in the veins of
us who are women. What of tin-
men? Are they not willing?
Are they not brave? Will th<*y
be still and allow all of our pros-
perity taken Iroin us to enrich
the brewers ? W ill they allow
our homes to be impovt rished
land the lives ol our children ru-
| iued? No! In times of need
Texas men have never yet been
cowards! We your wives your
; mothers your sweethearts and
j your sisters -call upon you. We
j trust you our husbands our
sons our sweethearts and our
; brothers we trust .yuu to arouse
yourselves and to save our
country and our town. We
trust you to save our state.

Resolutions if Re;p;ct
resolutions of respect adopter
by the Missionary Society 01
tin1 M K. church S-.outh JefTer
son Texas:
It has pleased (lod in hisprovi
dence to translate on Oct. 29th
the soul of our beloved sister
Mrs. M A. Northen.
Whereas She has been a faith
ful earnest and cevoted inembei
of our body for almost fifty
years.
Wliereas Her constant gentle
and beautiful lif»» is an inspira
tion to each of '.. s who hail tlu
blessing of her riendship for
she always said "»ue loved every
one " and everyone loved her
Therefore be it
Resolved. First: That oni
Missionary Society which she
was made a life member four
years ago has lost one of its
most faithful members
Second That we believe ear
neatly that she is among those
blessed ones who die in the Lord
and we feel fully assured of her
eternal happiness.
Third; That we earnestly pray
that each of us may follow the
example which .die constantly
kept before us of a soul wh<
knew ;<iiil loved her Savior and
endured as seeing Him who is
invisible and her memory is a
star leading us to lind where our
Savior abides.
Fourth; That we extend the
love and sympathy of our body
to the bereaved ones with the
earnest prayer that the (}.nl who
was with her through the valley
of the shadow of death may sus-
tain them in this and in every
sorrow.
Fifth; That a copy of these
Resolutions be recorded in our
minutes and be sent to each of
her loved ones.

A S'JRE RrMEDY
FOR LAZY LIVER
Go to The Rexall Drug Store for this
Safe Reliable Remedy and Get
Your Money Back if it Fails
There lire vi y-I'vw remedies
th.it gain the confidence of drug
gists as Dodson's Liver Tone
docs. The liexall Drug Store
soils it and hacks up the sale of
every bottle with a money hack
guarantee that the price v .11 be
refunded if it fails to give com-
plete satisfaction.
Dodson's Liver Tone costs 50
certs a bottle. It is the safest
and best remedy for torpid liver
constipation biliousness etc.
that has ever been sold in this
city. It takes the place of dan-
gerous calomel ami does not lay
you up as a dose of calotnei often
does. A bottle in the house is
as good as fifty cents in the
bank. If you or your family
need a liver tonic you have the
medicine ready. II it fails you
get your money back.
I >e sure you get Dodson's Liv
er Tone when you ask for it.
There are imitations of it that
may disappoint you.

OFTEN LOST SIGHT OF
We call attention to a few of
the points often overlooked when
selecting a school to attend.
TYPEWRITNG is one of the
most important parts of a busi-
ness education. Most schools
have different makes of type
writers in their school rooms
but the Tyler Commercial Col-
lege of Tyler Texas is the only
school in this part of the country
that has the different makes of
machines and teaches each and
every student to operate accu
rately by the touch method the
different standard makes of type
writers. No difference upon
what machine the student may
learn when he noes into an ofiS
ce he may tind an entire different
make of machine; therefore it is
very necessary thut he learn to
operate with speed and accuracy
all the standard makes of ma
chines.
SYSTEM OK SHORTHAND:
Most schools teach the old I'it
manic systems which were put
out in I82;i. The Tyler Comtner
cial College teaches the famous
Byrne Simplified which is a
modern system that produces
greater speed than any other
system in less than half the time
required by any other system of
shorthand now in use.
SYSTEMS OF HOOKKEEP-
I NO; Moat schools teach a theo-
ry course; the student reads
about what some one else has
done and posts up his work
theoretically. The students of
the Tyler Commercial College
have to transact every item of
business for which they make
an entry; they learn to do by
doing; they buy and sell goods
write up deeds mortgages
drafts and all kinds of commer-
cial papers ship goods just as
thev would in actual business
life. They do not only learn a
thorough course of bookkeeping
but they obtain a practical busi-
ness training as well; this busi-
ness training is worth as much
to them as a course of bookkeep-
ing. Bookkeeping thru practi-
cal business transactions}*} much
easier learned and the student
gets both the bookkeeping and
the business training in much
less time than he could get the
bookkeeping alone uy the theory
method used by other schools.
POSITIONS: The Tyler Com
mercial College secures positions
for every worthy graduate; it
fully realizes that practical train-
ed students placed in good pay-
ing positions are the strongest
advertisement a school can put
out and this kind of an adver-
tisement brings in over 7f> per
cent of their new enrollment.
Write the Tyler Commercial
College Tyler Texas for a large
catalogue giving facts and tig
ures that will convince you of
the wonderful cash producing
education given by America's
largest business training school •
