ERATH COUNTY ROAD LAW;-AMENDING.
H. B. No. 125.] CHAPTER 1.
An Act to amend Section 11 of the special road laws for Erath county, Texas,
relating to the compensation of the county commissioners of said county as
ex-officio road commissioners, and declaring an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Leqislature of the State of Texas:
SECTION 1. That section eleven of the special road laws for Erath
county, as now in force, be amended so as to hereafter read as follows:
Sec. 11. Each county commissioner as compensation for his services
as ex-officio road commissioner of his precinct, shall be entitled to such
sum, as may be prescribed by the commissioners court of his county,
not to exceed three dollars per day for the services actually performed;
provided that he shall not receive nor be allowed any such sum for any
one month for any services as such road commissioner as that together
with any and all other fees of office allowed or received by him shall
amount to more than seventy-five dollars ($75.00) per month, which
amount for said road supervision shall be paid monthly out of the road
and bridge fund: when the account shall have been allowed by the commissioners
court and said court shall not approve said account unless
the road commissioners presenting it shall sign an oath that the account
is just, due and unpaid, and specifying the number of days work actually
performed by him; nor shall he be entitled to any further compensation
for supervising public roads, except what is allowed by this Act.
SEC. 2. The fact that there is not now any adequate compensation
allowed the roed commissioners of Fr.ath county by said special road
law, and the importance of this Act creates an imperative public necessity
that the constitutional rule requiiig bills to be read on three several
days be suspended, and that this Act take effect fronm and after its passage,
and it is so enacted.
[NoTE.-H. B. No. 125 was passed by the House of Representatives
by a two-thirds vote, yea.s 125, nays 0; and was passed by the Senate
by a two-thirds vote, veas 22, nays 0.1
