The distinction of being a joint
sponsor of the first series of Allred
"new deal” bills passed by the 44th
legislature is enjoyed by Representa-
tive Stanford Payne of Del Rio.
Mr. Payne was first signer of the
bill permitting building and loan com-
panies to make loans under the nation-
al housing act ,and was a co-signer of
the eight hills of the group, designed
to make benefits of national housing
securities available to banks, insurance
companies and other financial institu-
tions.

Del Rio will be the site of the next
convention of the 21st district Legion
unit, it was decided Sunday in the
Kerrville meeting. The convention
will be held in June.
