Jack and the Bandits

"Oh, isn't it wonderful? I think thats just simply
grand."
Marjorie Turner flitted about among her guests smil-
ing triumphantly. Her party was already an assured suc-
cess. Young Jack Warren, "Entry," andi heir to a Texas
ranch was there, and his pleasant way of describing the
manner of life "Back in Texas," had sent the whole group
off into carillons of amusement. He was almost uncon-
ciously providing a novel entertainment to all who came
within range of his sonorous voice.
Miss Turner was becoming interested in this young
Westerner. He was pleasing her guests and adding merri-
ment to the occasion. For this she was deeply grateful.
Jack could not help noticing that he was attracting at-
tention so when an opportune moment came he drew aside
and sat down. He was sitting idly by trying to make out
the difference between this group of young people and the
ones he was accustomed to back at home when the hostess
approached him, still smiling efficiently.
"Please, Mr. Warren, do tell us something more about
your wonderful Texas, about some of your experiences as
a cowboy. Please do!"
A fairy-like creature had slipped in on either side of
him, several other fairy-like creatures were leaning against
the back of the settee and a semicircle of expectant listeners
adorned with white or pale frocks of unparralled richness
were noiselessly gathering about him.
Jack was enchanted. The thing was accomplished.
Henceforth he would be the idol of all Finnemore College.
