BIG CELEBRATION PRO-
POSED FOR COUNTY
A regular meeting of tfie Chamber
of Commerce directors was held Wed-
nesday in the basement of the Metho-
dist church and the directors desire
that speciul mention be made and
thanks expressed for the splendid
meal served. ,
Judge N. H. Hunt explained the de-
lay on the completion of the court-
house, saying that the main contract
was practically completed several
weeks ago, and the delay now is
caused by extras added, such as
mouldings, turraza flooring, wainscot-
ing in the corridors, etc. These were
in the original plans but cut out. hut
were later added upon the request of
some of the larger taxpayers of the
county.
Judge limit suggested that Crystal
City should put on a celebration, for
the balance of the county, u|K>n the
completion of the courthouse, and
for the good roads lieing built and for
the street paving lieing done hi Crys-
tal City. There was considerable
discussion of the question and it was
decided to have the celebration, but
the date was left open. A committee
was appointed to work out detnils.
The Chamber of Commerce passed
resolutions endorsing the Fire Depart-
ment and its work. >-
ltepresentatives from the American
Beet Hugar Co. of Minnesota were
present and discussed labor industry
ns It relates to them and this section.
They projiose to try to work out, with
local citizens, a plan whereby Mexican
laborers used here in the winter could
be used by them in suipmer, thereby
giving the Mexican people employment
the yeur round. A committee was ap-
pointed to investigate the plan.

Say, members, do you know our

up to? Come back next Sunday and
help us be 100 per eent. Study your
whole lesson, be able to give any part
without ybnr quarterly, learn your
memory work, bring your Bible and
try to get some other boy or girl to
come, too.
Do you know nil the books of the

spread distribution of this season's
movement is doubtless au important
factor in the satisfactory market con-

A second resurvey by Charles
Hperle, of the Division of crop esti-
mates, discloses ttie fact that recent
rains in Webb Co., and the Winter
Garden and upper counties has re-
duced the Thrip damage, und in-
creased tonnage in those districts, by
about 113,000 bushels, or 206 cars.
The forecast total production for the
State, then, is about 0,230 curs, or
slightly in xecess of last year.
The volume of Onions yet to move
from Texas, accordung to Mr. Siwrle’s
estimate, is approximately 2,000 curs.
With shipments from Coachella Val-
ley of California starting about May
10, iu appreciable volume, and reach-
ing the Eastern markets about a week
later, it is believed that the Texas
crop will be nearly all marketed be-

have plans and figures available for

several residences, either for sale or

being done la all the larger towns and

Bids are being received for a Mexi-
can school building, also for a two

temiKirary arrangement for the high
school next season, or until a perma-

Other building under contemplation
are a big brick and tile building
fore this completion from California ^or I’riHies Mercantile Co., which is to
be constructed this summer and be ready

on plans. The Central Bower and
Light Co. propose to erect an office

Perhaps there are other buildingt-
