to Reagan Wells Wednesday where
they will spend several days and in-

veston is here for a brief visit with

Mount. Miss Mount has recently re-
turned from a delightful trip to Chi-
cago, Canada and other places of in-
terest. She was accompanied by Miss
Natalie Forsyth, also of Galveston.

Dismukes and Mrs. Roger Morris
will attend the Winter Garden Zone
Meeting at Carrizo Springs, Friday,
September 1st. Many others of the
Methodist Missionary Society will
be in attendance. It will be an all
day meeting.
VISITOR COMPLIMENTED
Mrs. R. B. Pitts entertained at
bridge Tuesday afternoon in her
home, East Nueces Street, compli-
menting her sister, Mrs. C. M. Dan-
iels of Fort Worth and members of
her Bridge Club and added friends.
Summer flowers were clustered in
vases and placed at vantage points,
furnishing pretty floral decorations
for the rooms. High cut trophy was
won by Mrs. Everett Anglin. High
guest trophy was awarded Mrs. F. F.
Clinton. Mrs. Daniels was also pre-
sented with a guest prize. An ice
course was served at the conclusion
of the games. Club members pres-
ent were Mesdames N. M. Speedy,
Everett Anglin, R. W. Manifold, S.
S. Pegues, H. M. Janicke and G. C.
Jackson; guests, Mesdames Glynn
Mount, A, R. Racer, Ralph Worden,
W. R. Manning, F. F. Clinton, J. L.
Johnson, C. M. Daniels and Misses
Frances Hagens of San Antonio and
Cora Olmstead. Mrs. W. R. Parsons
and Mrs. Jas. C. Statler called dur-
ing the refreshment hour.

Mr. and Mrs. John Cosby delight-
fully entertained with a picnic Wed-
nesday on the lawn at their home at
the Boynton Dam. Guests were Mr.

Cosby, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Cox, Jr.

Mrs. Silver Whitsett and two boys,
Hayden and Barrie, of Seguin are
guests in the Broadhurst home this
week. They arrived Saturday, ac-
companied by Mr. Whitsett who vis-
ited his mother and family until
Monday, after which he returned to
Seguin. He will return this week-
end to accompany his family home.

Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Dismukes mo-
tored to Uvalde Friday where they
visited Mr. Dismukes mother and
sister who were there from Rock-
springs visiting other relatives. Mrs.
Dismukes is 85 years of age and not
enjoying the best of health. She re-
cently returned from Glenrose
where she spent some time for the
benefit of her health.

are guests this week of their parents
and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. W.
Freeman, and two sisters, Mrs. W. D.
Justice and Mrs. R. C. Donnell.
Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Hancock left
Monday for their new home, Kerr-
ville, where Mr. Hancock has taken
over the office of City Manager.
They did not take their household
goods ac they do not expect to keep
house, during the winter, but will be
at home at the Blue Bonnet Hotel.
They have many friends here who
regret to lost them from our city.

MissVirginia Harrison arrived from
San Antonio Tuesday to be here
Tuesday, Sept. 5, to open her school of
expression and dancing. Miss Har-
rison comes to our city with splen-
did recommendations. She received
her training in Expression in West-
moorland College, San Antonia, and
was assistant teacher in Bonner Stu-
dio the last year. She will teach all
phases of dancing, tap, acrobatic and
character. Miss Harrison will be lo-
cated at the home of Miss Annie
Swindall.

visit in Missouri. Enroute to Missou-
ri they went by Houston where they
visited their son and daughter-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Pennycuick.
They were joined in Houston by Roy
who had visited his brother and sis-
ter-in-law a week previous to their
arrival.

of Denver, Colorado, were here sev-
eral days last week, guests in the
home of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Free-
man and Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Donnell
where they visited Mr. Hamilton’s
children, Josephine, Harvey, Ken-
neth and Edwin. Josephine and Har-
vey accompanied their father and
step-mother on their return to Den-
ver where they will make their fu-
ture home. Kenneth and Edwin will
continue to make their home with
their uncle and aunt, Mr.

NINE YEARS OLD
Bettie Lou Brookshire was a gra-
cious little hostess last Friday'after-
noon, Aug 25th., at a party at her
home, to about twenty-three guests,
the occasion being her ninth birth-
day anniversary. Outdoor games
were played. Dolls and balls were
pretty favors. The birthday cake was
decorated with nine pink candles.
Betty Lou was remembered with a
lot of pretty gifts.

DRUCILLA FLEMING
Marian Brennan, Emma Mae Bru-
ington and Emalee McNiel were joint
hostesses at a surprise party Friday
evening from 7 to 10 at the home of
the former, complimenting Drueilla
Fleming who left Wednesday for
Carrizo Springs where she will
make her future home. Forty-two
and other games were played. Dru-
cilla was presented with some lovely
parting gifts for which she ex-
pressed her appreciation.
Refreshments were served to the
following: Drueilla Fleming, hon
oree, Margaret Monkhouse, Marjorie
Thomason, Alice Fay McNiel, Mar-
garet Tiner of Munday, Edward
Ready, Whitman Alger, Scott Pe-
guees, Jr., Alvin Morris and the
hostesses.

Sunday’s Express carried the pic-
ture of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Gardner
of Big Foot, parents of Mrs. R. A.
Taylor and Mrs. F. P. Thompson,
both of Crystal City, and a write-up
of the celebration of their golden
wedding anniversary. The affair also
was the silver wedding anniversary
of Mr. and Mrs. Taylor.
Mr. and Mrs. Gardner are the par-
ents of eight children, 30 grandchil-
dren and four great grandchildren
and there has never been a death in
the entire family. Mr. Gardner is 82
years of age and can tell many ex-
periences he had back in the days
when the Indians were plentiful in
this country.
A barbecue luncheon was served
at the noon hour to fifty-two guests.
