church Worker up to th time of her
discharge as organist He denied that
he had ever loved her huggd her

set by Mlsa Smith She had endeav-
ored to get him to use his Influence

absolutely false and that there was
not the shadow of a stain upon the

acter Is fully sustained

was made for the courtroom when the
news flashed through the courthouse
and out Into the streets at 11 oclock
this forenoon that the Jury In th
Hadford Mpshltx case had agreed
VN Jury retired at 3 oclock and was
out all night showing that an agree
ment had not been reachM without
some difficult The gallery and all
standing space In the courtroom was
packed to suffocation In a few mln
utcs after the announcement that nn
agreement had been reached and as
the Jury filed Into their seats a deathly
silence pre ailed The foreman of the
Jury soon handed Clerk flanford a slip
of paper nnd Mr feanford read We
the Jurj find the defendant the clerk
hesitated nnd the big crowd craned
Its neck and held Us breath and he
finished with guilty The penalty
was fixed at death
