RUSSIAN JEW TELLS
OF NAZI CRUELTIES
Kuibyshev (JPS) — How the
Germans handled the Jews in
conquered White Russia is told
in all its blood-filled details by
a Russian Jew named Jacob
Usdinaky, whose story is pub-
lished in the Soviet Press.
Usdinaky, who lived in Ozorich.
White Russia, for five months
under Nazi rule, said that in Let-
ch ich "800 Jews, men, women and
children were rounded up by the
Germans. They were shot and
buried in a common grave," he
added, saying that “some of the
children were buried while still
alive.” Usdinsky’s parents were
killed in Ozorich and the town
was razed. All the Jewish inhab-
itants were massacred, the refu-
gee from horror said.
In Yelsk, he declared, the Jews
were placed on barges and ship-
ped down the Pripet River.
“There was no food and water on
the barges and for five days the
people went without food,” the
narrator said. When some Rus-
sian peasants tried to give the
Jews a bite to eat, Nazi snipers
shot them down. On the sixth
day the barges approached the
rapids in the river and then the
Germans deliberately turned
' them over.
