vention will be held at the
Statler Hotel, New York City,

Bureau of the National Jewish Welfare Board (JWB) re-
ceive citations from Louis J. Cohen, chairman of the
Bureau's Advisory Committee. Left to right are: Mr.

Robert Spiro, baritone, male first-place winner. Not pres-
ent when the awards were made was Leon Lishner. who
also received honorable mention. The auditions were held
to select young vocalists for active promotion by the Jew-
ish Center Lecture Bureau, which arranges lectures and
concert programs for JWB's affiliated Jewish Community
Centers and YM-YWHAs. as well as for other Jewish com*
munal groups.

erection of the new building,
bids being taken this week and
the awarding of the contract
will probably be made at this
meeting. M. N. Dannenbaum,
chairman of the building com-
mittee, will discuss the plans
and prospects for the building.
The community is invited to
attend the dinner at 7:00 p. m.
Reservations are $3.00 per
plate. Those who do not desire
to attend the dinner are in-
vited to participate in the meet-
ing which will open promptly
at 8:30 p. m. Reservations

The annual election of mem-
bers of the Executive Commit-
tee will be held at this time.
Dan Rosenthal, director of
the Jewish Community Cen-
ter, will report on the progress
of the various programs of the
Center and outline the activi-
ties for the coming year. Int-

Makes Possible Million

NEW BRUNSWICK. N. J__
(JTA) — Dr. Sclman A. Waks-
man, discoverer of the drug
streptomycin, has assigned his
patent to Rutgers University
and has made possible the erec-
tion of a $1,000,000 Institute of
Microbiology at the university.
Dr. Robert C. Clothier, presi-
dent of the institution, ____an-
nounced this week.
Dr. Waksman, who will be
the first director of the Insti-
tute, has made possible the er-
ection of a building to house
the new research center, and a
grant of $250,000 toward the
operating expenses by turning
over the royalties from his pa-
tent on streptomycin. Other op-
erating income will come from
royalties, university funds and
private grants.

Camp Bonin located on the
