A Tribute From Gcri A P
Bagby to Mrs M > E
Dickson
Blessed are the pur in
hentl for they shWl see God
ifidrimrr
stMim
has prevented ma heretofore from
giving expression tq the emotion s
which her death excite d fn my bo s
om I had known Mrs Dickson
so long and well nnd my respect
and affection for her were so great
that I am unwilling to refrain from
Baying something that others who
loved her may know the feeling
which an intimate knowledge Of
her character inspired in me
For many years I was on terms
of confidential intercourse with Mrs
Dickson her husband and her Bone
The times were tumultuous and to
restrain tho impetuous courage of
her husband and to prevent her
sons from becoming engaged in
feuds which might result in vio-
lence were the objects td which the
best years of her lifo were devoted
If her efforts were not alwnys suc-
cessful not hers the fault and by
thorn alio entitled herself to thai
blessing which Christ himself pro-
nounced when Ho said Blessed
are the peacemakers for they chuil
see God
But tut moat distinguished trait
of Mrs Dicksons character was
the perfect purity of her heart She
not only did no evil hut she bus
peoted none in otberB No maiden
in her purity was more Ireo froni
guile and In nil my intercourse
with her I rovor henrdJier utter ah
unkind word of any human being
In my experience of life and it has
been loop and more vuriod than
of most mon I have known n6 one
who excelled very few who ap
proRched Mrs Dickson in tho sim-
ple purity of her character Bles-
sed vsaid Ohriet aro the puro in
heart for they shall see God t
I rejoice to know that the IftBt
years of Mrs Dickeons life were
passed in pence and quietude and
that in its closing scenes nil that
medioal skill could do ns done to
assuage her suffeaing ond that she
was tended with a selfsacrificing
tenderness and dovnlion of which
man is incapable nnd which is
rarely found even in woman
This poor apology for a tribute
to tho memory of < 1ne I esteemed
and loved fa offered that all de-
scended Iromhor inay know fhow
muohppodness we hava a rjgVt to
