Family Night Held
By Baptist Church
Enjoying as great popularity as
when it was first presented, Sam-
uel Goldwyn’s "The Best Years
of Our Lives” has returned to the
screen a production rich in heart-
warming romance and down-to-
earth human drama. It may tie
seen currently at the Wallace The-
atre.
In this notable picture, which
swept the awards of the Motion
Picture Academy some seven
years ago, Myrna Loy, Fredric
March, Dana Andrews, Teresa
Wright and Virginia Mayo have
the stellar roles, with Hoagy Car-
michael, Harold Russell and Cathy
O'Donnell featured.
The heroes, played by March,
Andrews and Russell, all meet on
a plane taking them to their home
town. March, gay and pleasure-
loving, is returning to a bank ex-
ecutive’s job and to his lovely wife
and daughter, played respectively
by Miss Loy and Miss Wright. An-
drews has a very selfish and gold-
digging wife, played by Miss Mayo
She was contented until her hus-
band found nothing better than his
old drug-store job. She starts play-
ing around with other men, where-
upon Andrews and Miss Wright
feel free to pursue the love which
has mutually enthralled them. Hus
sell also comes back dispirited to
his sweetheart, (played by Cathy
O’Donnell I, and cannot bring him-
self to burden her with his woes.
How all the difficulties are clear-
ed up is handled with telling ef-
fect and delightful humor by the
cast and in William Wyer’s di-
rection of Robert E. Sherwood’s
screenplay based upon MacKinley
Kantor’s novel, Glory For Me. The
picture is distributed by RKO Rad-
