beat possible medium to carry bis
■tore news into the homes cf the
people, we desire to; call attention
in ail modesty to tbe^alne of the
Record. Tbe paper that carries
the most news is tbe paper that is
ntoat wanted, provided that news
is of interesting nature and told to
an interesting manner. We print
more columns of DeWitt county
v and Cnero news than auy other
newspaper. Bach week we print
228 colnmns of daily Happenings
pertaining to our towd, county,
'neighborhood, state, nation and
miscellaneous. Home news has
the preference and we strive dili-
gently to secure for oar colnmns
everything Interesting taat hap |
pens. Oar weekly paper itdklf is
larger than any other weekly in the
whole of Southwest Texas, consist-
ing of 72 columns regularly while
at times it contains 8^colnmns and
contains more interesting reading
matter for the people of the county
than any other paper. We have
gone to considerable expense dar-
ing the past year to built up our
circulation, proportionate to the
value of tbe service we give and
the resnlt of onr eflbit* is well
known to most of onr leaders and
r tbe merchants of thlf section. We
' say without fear of successful con-
tradiction that tbe Record prints
more copies than any other paper
in this congress local district and

We (the Peterson family) ar-
rived safely at onr destination
Thursday, 27th Inst. We visited
friends and relatives in Texas from
the time we left Cuero till Monday,
Jane 24, when we started for Oaio
and came by way of Dallas and St.
Louts to Cincinnati. Oar trip was
tiresome bat nothing exciting hap-
pened on the way for which we
were Indeed thankini.
The farmers here are behind
with their crops as it has been
exticmely wet this spring. Crops
do not look good at all. Corn is
generally about six inches high,
wheat is rather short but hayseems
to 1 e extra heavy. I am in Ohio
and don’t dare to speak very loud
but I will say confidentally and in
• whisper to yon that Texas looks Notice
better to me than this country and! t.
I expect at some time to be again
identified with the people of Texas.
I am jast a little short of newt
that would be of interest to yon so
I will not detain yon longer. Mrs.
Peterson and the children join me
in kindest regards to ail friends
and acquaintances in Cnero.
Yours very truly,
M. V. Peterson.

Honesty fcaa its birthplace m
the home and the heart of the
generation receives its inspira-
tion from the fireside.' The teas
ination can conceive'of no pleas-
ure greater than that of a happy
home. No man can become fuU>
qualified for citizenship until the
joys of home building have' en-
riched his life. v
We have in Texas 548,600
homes and of this number, 416,-
377 are rural and 132,223 urban.
We spend $50,000,000 per annum
in building homes. We build 137
homes per day.
Cupid is a home builder. We
have approximately 60,000 mar-
riages per annum and yet we
have 400,000 unmarried women
of marriageable age. Cupid is
not doing his full duty in Texas.
We need more marriages, more
families an1 more homes. Get
married, buy a lot and build a
home in Cuero. We will.sell you
a lot reasonably and help ar-
range to build you a home if vo*/
