"It is a fact that this whole project was George Abell's brainchild," said Tom Lovell. "He was prepared to
carry the ball but he knew he needed the support of other oilmen, and I thought it was very far-sighted of
him - as a person who had no background in art - to realize that if he had some paintings, some visual
things, they could be a great asset to him in the beginning. Without George Abell, this thing never would
have gotten off the ground."
