Set For Feb. 26
the annual Junior Music Club
Festival will be held at St. John’s
Methodist church in Lubbock Sat-
urday. February 26. it has been
announced in Levelland clubs.

Church is on Fourteenth street. A
large number from this area are
planning to attend, it is said.

Linda Williams
Mrs. Bill Williams, 1409 Tenth
^P^treet, entertained with a party
Valentine’s Day from two until
four o’clock honoring her son,
Gary, 6 and daughter, Linda, 4 on
their birthdays. Gary’s birthday
was February 17 and Linda’s the
14th.
Two heart-shaped cakes were
served at the party, one was in-
scribed with “Happy Birthday,
Gary” and the other “Happy
irthday, Linda.” They were dec-
rated with six and four candles.
Favors were heart-shaped suck-
ers with Valentines attached. The
Williams home was decorated at-
tractively in the seasonal theme. A
number of games were played and
cake and ice cream were served.
Those present were Opal Fay
and Jimmy Rowe, Kay Woodson.

Held Second And
Fourth Tuesdays
A meeting of the newly-organi-
zed Smyer Home Demonstration
^dub was held Tuesday at the home
^df Mrs. B. A. Burgess.
Mrs. H. M. Woods was elected
president. Yearbooks were distri-
buted and programs for the year
discussed. Mrs. Robert Payne, Mrs.
W. W. Taylor and Mrs. Vernon
Taylor were elected program com-
mittee members for the year.
Meetings of the club are held on
the second and fourth Tuesdays
of each month. Women of the
4p5myer community who are inter-
ested in HD work are urged to
attend.
Next Meeting
The next meeting will be held
Feb. 22 at the home of Mrs. Morris
Brown.

Morris Brown, H. Daniels. Wyess,

Mrs. Glover L. Williams, the
former Miss Glenda Bostick, was
complimented at a bridal shower
Wednesday afternoon in the Blue
Room of the Buckhorn from three
until five-thirty o’clock.
Hostesses for the shower were
Mrs. Chester Blankenship and
Mrs. Obie Staggs, co-workers with
the honoree when she was em-
ployed at the Buckhorn.
The dining room was decorated
with arrangements of pink carna-
tions, snapdragons and gladioli.
The honoree wore a brown faille
dress, matching accessories and a
corsage of pink carnations.

Hears Book Review

Members of the Fellowship Sun-
day school class of the First Me-
Wthodist church were scheduled to
hear a book review by Mrs. W.
L. Breshears at the class meeting
at the church Friday evening.
A Pot Luck supper Was to be
held preceding the program.
Mrs. Joe Birtciel is teacher of
the class and Mrs. W. .1 Crawford
Is president.
TU Intermediates
Have Banquet On
Monday Evening
Twenty-three members of the
Intermediate department of the
First Baptist church Training
Union and dates attended a Valen-
tine banquet Monday evening in
the church parlor.
The red and white Valentine
motif was carried out very effec-
tively. A huge heart was used at
the entrance to the room. Another
heart was outlined on the wall.
jRed crepe paper and Valentine
nut cups were used to advantage
in the other table decorations.
Miss Patsy Burnett was chairman
of the decorations committee.
Miss Bonnie Rutherford sang
and played several appropriate
numbers. The invocation was giv-
en by the leader, Mrs. Sam Wood.
Miss Burnett was presented as
the TU department and was given
a red carnation on behalf of the
group.
Those present were Sallie Wiley,
Bonnie Rutherford, Barbara Bow-
man, LaRoyce Gray, Joy French,
Peggy Dan Bass, Allie Mary
Brown, Joy Walser, Shannon
Rutherford, Patsy Burnett, Paul-
ine Thurman, Eddie Flo Barnes,
Durwood Johnson, Glenn Strup,
Harley Hughes, J. P. Jones, Sam-
inic Wood, and the following wo-
men, who served the food, Mmes.
C. D. Bass, Hubert Rutherford, El-

sented to Mrs. Williams. A large
number unable to attend sent

Pink-Blue Shower
Monday Honors
Mrs. C. Branch
On Valentine’s Day, Mrs. Clar-
ence Branch was complimented at
a Pink and Blue shower given in
the home of Mrs. Dan Williamson.
Mrs. Carl Anderson, who was ill
with pneumonia and could not be
present, was co-hostess for the
party.
A very attractive Baby Book,
made by Mrs. Williamson, was
used to register the guests.
The Valetine motif was carried
out in the refreshments of chick-
en salad, fruit salad, cake, and
coffee or Cokes. Plate favors were
paper diapers filled with candles.
Mrs. C. H. Trammel and Mrs.
Branch won prizes in the games.
Those present were Mmes. Dan
Cooper, Charles Dyer, Ike Johnson,
C. H. Trammel, Eldon Wright, and
daughter, George James, J. W.
Webb, Henry Laseman, Leroy Bell,
and the honoree and hostess. Doro-
thy Lehman sent a gift.
Alma Thea Deere
Named Princess
To West Texas
Mia* Alma Thea Deere, senior
in Levelland high school, has re-
cently been selected as personality
princess to reign with the person-
ality queen at West Texas State
college in Canyon March 4.
Miss Deere is “Miss Personality”
of Levelland high school and will
receive a large picture in El Lobo
yearbook.
Paul Russell will be Miss Deere's
escort at a dinner and other acti-
vities there.
A large number of personality
princesses from various schools
over the Panhandle and South
Plains will attend the events.
Miss Jody Marsh of Crosbyton,
was personality queen at West
Texas State last year.
Sundown HD Club
Has Program On
'Personality'
The Sundown Home Demonstra-
tion club met with Mrs. M. G.
Douglas Tuesday.
Leaders were chosen to bring
demonstration on Foods during the
year. An interesting program was
given on the subjects: “Person-
ality” by Mrs. J. B. Stinnett and
“How To Get The Most Out of
Each Day” by Mrs. Pete Childs.
Two new members, Mrs. Ander-
son and Mrs. Woods were present.

Honored Tuesday
At Birthday Dinner

Curtis Smith was honored at a
surprise birthday dinner Tuesday
evening at six o’clock in the home
of his sister, Mrs. Edith Mullins.
A large birthday cake in blue
and white was presented Mr.
Smith. It was inscribed with
“Happy Birthday, Curtis” and de-
corated with candles.
Later in the evening Progressive
42 games were enjoyed.

Valentine party last Thursday
evening in the home of Mrs. LeJ-
don Rawls.
Assisting with the arrangements
was Mrs. R. G. Pittman. Cookies
and hot chocolate were served at
the conclusion of the party.

Peters, Charlene Keller, Sandra
Fitzgerald, Shirley Hill, Ruby An-
na Baldwin, Doris Burnett, Geor-
gia Mae Sims, Annette Rawls,
Jimmy Don Yeary and LaWayne

Thimble Circle
Club Meets With
Mrs. Humphreys
Mrs. G. V. Humphreys was hos-
tess to the Thimble Circle club
Wednesday. Twelve members, two
visitors and one new member, Mrs.
James Morgan, were present.
The group worked on two quilts
for the hostess. Mrs. Humphreys,
the president, presided at the bus-
iness meeting.
Cake and tea were served at the
close of the meeting.
Next Meeting
The club will meet again March
2 in the home of Mrs. Glepn Can-
non in Morningside addition. At
that time the hostess will be hon-
ored with birthday gifts.

James Peel Recently
Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Craigo of the
Whitharral community have an-
nounced the marriage of their
daughter, Ruth, to James L. Peel,
of Lubbock. The double-ring cere-
mony was read Sunday, January
23 in the home of Rev. McCarty,
Calvary Baptist church pastor, in
Lubbock.
The bride wore a blue tweed
suit, gray blouse and matching ac-
cessories.
Mrs. Peel graduated from Whit-
harral high school with the class
of 1946 and is also a graduate of
Wayland college.
The groom served two years in
the Navy, and is now employed
with the Pioneer Cookie company
at Lubbock, wh<*re they reside at
2121 Twenty-Seventh street.
