FRIDAY JUNE 27TH, 1947
EDWARDS COUNTY MEN
INSPECT HOSPITALS
The Texas Mohair Weekly and The Rocksprings Record
Jundge Lee Johnson, Commission-
ers F. A. Moody and Millard Thomp-
son, representing Edwards county
and J. L. Balentine, Coy Dillard and
Dan Me Knight represen ting Ed wards
County Chamber of Commerce, in-
spected hospitals in Uvalde, Del Rio
and Eagle Pass Tuesday.
The party was interested in secur-
ing information concerning small hos-
pitals, relative to building the pro-
posed hospital in Edwards county.
The Del Rio Hospital, Del Rio and
Merritt Hospital, Uvalde are hospitals
of several /years standing, but the
Maverick Comity Memorial Hospital
at Eagle Pass was finished only Nov-
ember of last year, and has all mod-
ern conveniences available. The com-
mittee was very much impressed with
this hospital, as to its design and de-
sirability, for a small hospital. It is a
fourteen room thirty-two bed build-
ing. Maverick County voted $150,000,
which burned out to be an insufficient
amount. To rectify -this, patients
rooms were furnished by individuals
in memory, of some one.
Inquiring as to the benefit of feder-
al hospital aid, the committee found
that officials of other counties felt it
would be foolish to pass iu,p such aid.
The Federal Government’s aid to
counties in building hospitals is one-
third of the total amount.
the 15th day of July, 1947, and shall
have a maximum maturity date of
1965, and shall bear interest at the
rate of not exceeding 3 1-2% per an-
num.
J. L. JOHNSON, County, Judge,
20-2t. Edwards County, Texas.
