of close friends and relatives, Miss
Eunice Latimer, daughter of Mr.
and Mr*. Henry Latimer, 1030 W.
Sloan, and Clyde King of Carls-
bad, were united in marriage Fri-
day evening, May 27, by the Rev.
J. S. Willie, pastor, at the First
Presbyterian in Carlsbad, New
Mexico.
The bride was lovely in a navy
blue’dress and hat with ■ white
veil. Her other accessories were
white and her corsage, red roses.

the matron of honor, wore a white

Raymond King of Carlsbad, the
bride groom’s brother, was best
man.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond King en-
tertained a party of 25 guests for
the wedding VeCeption at their
home, 806 N. Canal. The serving
table, covered with jg white Irish
lace cloth, was centered by the
wedding cake, which was surround-
ed by gardenias. Crystal candela-
bra and white randies and a crys-
tal punch service completed the
table appointments.
After a trip to Ruidosa. Mr. and
Mrs. King will be at home at 1003
W. Fox in Carlsbad.
The bride is a native Erathian,
having been born and reared in
Thurber. She attended Tarleton
College and took her degree at
T.S.C.W. in Denton, and taught in
the local junior high school be-
fore going to Carlsbad in 1044. Her
husband is employed as an elec
trichm by Stearns-Rogers Co.

HONORED AT SHOWER
Miss Eunice Latimer, bride-elect
of Clyde King of Carlsbad, was
complimented with a bridal shower
of linen and kitchen gifts in that
city by Mrs. Donald Coppock and
Mrs. ..Fay Cobb. Mias Dorothy
Freer and Miss Dorothy Schultz
assisted the hostesses.
Miss Latimer, a teacher in the
Carlsbad High School and Mr
King were married Friday evening,
at the First Presbyterian Church.

Miss Lois Jordan is valedictor-
ian of the 1940, senior class of Ma-
son High School. She heads the
graduating class of 43 members
with an average of 06.
Miss Lois is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank E. Jordan, who
lived in Stephenville four years be-
fore moving to Mason.
- She plans to enter Tarleton State
College in the fall.
Miss Ethel Mae Jordan, an older
sister' takes her degree from SMU
this month and will go directly to
London, Kentucky, to do work un-
der the missionary bokrd.

fifteen others, who were graduat-
ing from Junior High were named
as honor guests.

corating the room and a bowl of

tet tables where brunch was ser-
ved
Mrs. Neblett, assisted by her
daughters, Ruth Ann and (Jaye
served pigs in blankets, baked
eggs, sliced tom toes, hot biscuits,
strawberry shortcake and Iced tea
to the young ladles.
Numerous games ami contests
were enjoyed by the girls after the
meal.
Spring colors were used to ac
cent the beauty of the serving
table, which was arranged by Mrs.
Hoyt McNinn and Miss Freer
Lavender larkspur, lime sherbert
and yellow candles carried out
the color theme.
Twenty-five guests called dur-
ing the evening,

BRIDE OF JIM DEAN
The First Methodist Church of
Stephenville, was the acene of a
beautiful early moruing wadding
Wednesday, June 1, at aix o’clock,
when Misa Pat Thompson, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Thomp-
son, 742 Watt 14th Street. San
Angelo, became the bride of James
Bartow Dean, son of Mrs. Bettie
K. Dean of San Antonio, and the
late Mr. J. D. Dean.
Mr. Don Morton, head of the
music department at Tarleton
State College, played pre-nuptial
Organ music and accompanied Mr.
A. M. Autrey, also a member of the
music department at Tarleton, who
sang “0 Promise Me” before the
wedding party entered and “The
Lord’s Prayer” at the conclusion of
the ceremony. Mr. Morton alto
played the traditional wedding
marches.
Clarence Smith of Gatesville and
H. C. Brumblow of Fort Worth,
ushers, lighted the tap«rs and the
bride groom entered with the best
man, Dr. Tom West of Abilene.
The Rev. John Wesley Ford per-
formed the double ring ceremony
before an altar formed by an arch-
way entwined with fern and Ore-
ron greenery and floor baskets
tiled with white gladioluses.
The bride, entering with hei
father, who gave her Tn marriage,
wore a white satin gown designed
with a fitted waist, having a Ro-
man neck line which featured a
Satin embroidered bertha and an
illusion yoke. The long sleever
came to a point over her hands.
A bustle effect was achieved- in
the skirt which fell into a long
train. Her finger-tip veil, edged in
imported lace fell from a braided
and beaded tiara. Her cascade bou-
quet of white carnations, stephan-
otis and gypsophelia waa centereH
by . a large white orchid.
The matron of honor, Mrs. Tom
West of Abilene, wore a pink
marquisette over aatfti gown made
on similar lines to that of the
bride. She carried a colonial bou-
quet of white carnations and wore
icture hat of pink,
he brides maids, Misses Mary
Jo Deen of Wichita Falls and La
Dell Camp of Junction, also wore
dresses made similar to that of
the bride. Miss Deen wore blue
marquisette over satin with a
yellow picture hat and carried
yellow tinted carnations. Miss
Camp’s dress was of yellow with
the blue hat and flowers.
Groomsmen were Bill Mterrick
of Big Spring and Richard Gil-
breath of Hadley.
The groom’s mother wore a black
ankle length dress and black hat
trimmed with lace, ana a corsa
of pink carnations, while ■
bride’s mother chose a powder blue
dress with hat to match, trimmed
with rosea and maline and a car-
nation corsage.
A reception at the Long Hotel
followed the ceremony. Members
of the wedding party and parents
of the bride and groom formed the
receiving line.
Baskets of white gladioluses
decorated the reception suite and
the three-tiered wedding cake
topped by a miniature bride and
groom standing under a wedding
bell, centered the lineh laid re-
freshment table.
Mrs. L. C. Mardis of San Angelo,
aunt of the bride, served the cake
while Mrs. Gurtrue Sherbino of
Fort Stockton, also an aunt of the
bride, and Mrs. H*. H. Conley, sis-
4er of the groom, presided at the
coffee services.
Mrs. Tabb Thompson of Eugene,
Oregon, aqnt of the bride, had
charge of the bride’s book. Also
assisting was Leon Conley of
Pecos, nephew of the groom.
Other out of town relatives and
friends who were present were:
Mr. and Mrs.' C. A. Thompson,
Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Ray Par-
sons and daughter, Janice, San
Antonio; Pr. and Mrs. E. E. West,
Mrs. Sally Chinn and Mrs. Annie
Gilbreath and daughters, Dorothy
and Emma jean, all of Abilene.
. For her going away costume, the
bride wore a green and white two-
piecc linen dress with white ac-
cessories' and an orchid corsage.
The couple flew to Abilene and San
Angelo for a short honeymoon be-
fore returning here to enter sum-
mer school at Tarleton.
•n, new green peas, creamed po-
tatoes, buttered roll*, Iced tea and
angle food cake aquarea was ser-
ved. Corn flowers, pink rosea end
larkspurs decorated the rooms.

of Mr. J. C. Lane. They plan a
mid-summer wedding.
A color scheme of yellow and
orchid was carried out In the
decorations.

ment table and it was centered by
a howl of purple sweet peas and
yellow nasturtiums.

heartedly with the general federa-
tion on the Community Project
Contest which It is sponsoring
