CpI. John Woods landed safely
in New Guinea., his wife, Betty,
and his parents, Dr. and Mrs. D. R.
Woods, who reside here, have
been notified.
Before leaving for overseas,
Cpl .Woods was stationed in Cali-
fornia.

WRITES FROM FRANCE
Mrs. R. B. Baker has received
two letters from her son, Pfc. Louis
Baker, dated June 12 and June
24 written from somewhere in
IVance. Excerps from the first
letter are as follows:
“Well, Mom, we landed in
France and so far so good. I’m
still in fine shape tnd doing o. k.
Sorry I haven’t written before
now, but I just haven’t had the
opportunity so don’t worry about
me.
“Mom, I’m having experiences
IT. never forget rs long as I live,
and you can rest assured that God
as with me or I wouldn’t be writ-
ing now. When we hit the French
coast, I thought we actually were
in hell. If hell is any worse than
this, I sure do want to go the oth-
er way. I can’t and won’t have; God I’m here. We landed D day
time' to write anyone but you so ; at H plus 30. It was worse than
call Fowler and all of them and j words could, ever express,
explain the deal. | -

arrived during the week-end to
speiid part of a two weeks’ vaca-
tion here with her mother, Mrs.
W. R. Farmer, and other relatives.
Miss Lillian Horany visited rela-
tives in Wichita Fails during the
week-end.
