Operate Cab Service Meet
In Fort Worth
E. W. White, who moved here
this week with his wife from Gal-
veston, will operate the White
Top Cab service. Headquarters will
be at the Hamilton Hotel.
Before coming to Olney Mr.
White served for three years with
the United States Navy. He was a
Seaman First Class.

After 3 Years in Army
Pfc. Kibbie Gragg, husband of
Mrs. Jenny Lou Gragg, has been
discharged from the Army after
three years of service with the Air
Forces.
His last duty station was Sacra-
mento Air Technical Service Com-
mand, where he was assigned to
the post school prior to his dis-
charge.
Before entering the armed forces
he was in the cattle business here.
He is the son of Dr. L. F. Gragg.

R. N. Lunn of the Lunn Furni-
ture Co., local Frigidaire Appli-
ance dealer, announced upon his
return from a Frigidaire sales con-
ference in Fort Worth September
26 that electric ranges and refrig-
erators are now in mass production
at the Frigidaire plants.
Recent WPB rulings have rescin-
ded restrictions on the sale of
elctric ranges to the public and
the new Frigidaire range soon will
be on display at Lunn’s. Refrigera-
tors under current regulations still
are frozen in a government stock-
pile. Exact date of their release
is not known at present.
Approximately 350 dealers at-
tended the meeting at the Black-
stone Hotel.

Holter Receives
Army Discharge
S-Sgt. William R. Holter, son of
Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Holter, last
week received an honorable dis-
charge from the Army of the-
United States.
He entered the service in 1942
and received his Gunnery Wings
at Ft. Meyers, Fla. He served in
the 8th Air Force completing 33
combat missions in the European
Theater of Operation and has
earned the Distinguished Flying
Cross, the Air Medal with three
Oak Leaf Clusters, five battle stars
and the good conduct medal.
Sgt. Holter’s wife, the former
Miss Margaret Shepherd, resides
in Olney.

New Trade Courses
Open to Coast Guard
The U. S. Coast Guard announc-
ed from it Dallas headquarters
today that several new trade cours-
es are now open to enlisted per-
sonnel. 17-year-old men enlisting
at this time can replace those men
who are being discharged after
long service on the battle fronts.
The Coast Gurad training sta-
tion is now located at Curtis Bay,
Marlyland where the boys receive
from 6 to 12 weeks “boot” training.
The following schools are open
for Coast Guard enlisted personnel
at this time: Aerographer, avia-
tion radio, electrician’s (Tel.), ra-
<!• material (advanced), aids to
navigation, deep-sea divers, fire-
man, radio material (basic), avia-
tion machinist’s, direction finder,
radar operator, radioman.
17-year-old boys will receive
their transportation from their
homes to the Recruiting Station in
Dallas upon request. This can be
obtained by writing to Officer-In-
Charge Thomas L. Williams, Yeo-
man 1c, Room 372, Post Office.
