THINGS RARE
AND UNUSUAL
. Time passes. Seasons come and
go. Spring with its waving green
grass and sweet smelling flowers.
Then comes the sultry summer
with heat waves—then fall. Fi-
nally winter with the cold winds
r.nd land mantled with snow.
My mother said today, “I have
seen many seasons come and go,
almost ninety-two years. In the
final end you will find most peo-
ple have more good traits 'than
bad.”
The longer I live, the more I
appreciate my mother. On Sun-
day evening, October the 19th,
there will be a birthday celebra-
tion at my home, honoring my
mother’s ninety-second year. A
group picture will be made of all
present at 2 o’clock. Readers of
my column have a cordial invi-
tation to this event. If you de-
sire, bring a picture of your loved
ones to show in the group pic-
ture. By so doing you honor your-
self.
Most people have connection!
like platinum and gold, but in the
beet of the tribes appears now and
then, heels and throwbacks some
of the stalwart souls would trade
off and give some boot.
Of course this doesn’t apply to
your folks and mine.
I have just re-read a letter I
received from my mother more,
than forty years ago. It aroused
the better part of my nature. I
tossed" my mother’s brow—a long
time to wait to show appteciation.
We like to have nice things
said about us. Unfortunately, we
have to mature and match our
wits with the cold, cruel world
before we realize-’ the real worth
and sacrifices made by the right
kind of parents and grandparents.
Quote from the letter “The longer
I live th« man 1 realize you are
one of the beet boy* in the world
and if yoti didn't have more tense
than some people (and I have
just told somebody so,) I Would
feel like disowning you. Love, from
