An inquest wit this morning held
011 the body of tho stranger found east
of tho city yesterday who
died lu Sheriff Smith's anus

hospital. A letter was lound in his
pocket dated Pawnee City Neb. May

name was Geo. Shlpman a cigar
maker who about eight weeks pic-
vlous to the dato had been deprived of
tho use of one side of his body and the
power of speech by a stroke of paraly-
sis; that he was 011 his way to St.
Louis for treatment and had
enough money to pay his expenses.
At the conclusion of the letter was tho
following: "Give mo a drink of wa-
ter. Please direct me to tho train that'
will take me lo St. Louis" There
was no signature to the letter. There
was only twenty-live cents lu money
on tho body and as tho letter stated he
had p.'enty of money to take him to
his destination it Is supposed he had
been robbed. The verdict of tho jury
was that lie eamo to his death from
fever exposure and want of necessary
earo. Tho body was turned over to
undertaker Smith for burial
