Representative McConpell is
one of the 38 in the house who
are lined up against investigat-
ing our boodle senator.—Breck-
i iridge Democrat.
It seems that the .vote of the
81th last' Monday endorsed Mr.
McConnell in his contention. It
occurred to Mr. McConnell as it
did t® the voters of this district,
that Senator Bailey had been
pretty thoroughly investigated
for the past four months, and did
not need more.
From the best information we
can get W. J. Cunningham for
state senator received 3,701, and
Hawkins received 2,232, making
Cunningham’s majority so far as
heard from 1,408. It is safe to
say that Cunningham’s majority
will exceed 2,000 in the district.
Hawkins carried Stephens coun-
ty by 5 vots, Lynn by 3, votes,
nnd Midland county by a small
vote.
Last Tuesday the legislature
elected Hon. J. W. Bailey U. S.
senator by 52 majority over the
entire membership, There were
38 yoter against him, two absent,
and 15 marked present not vot-
ing. Thus it will b$ seen that
43 members violated their in-
-Btuotiofte. The Travis county
•members were instructed against
Mr. Hailey and the two republi-
cans oould not have been expect*
xita vote for him. -
