tenance without a special appropriation for
that purpose.

special attention to tho orderly conduct ot
tho prisoners during tho firo and tho per

by tho officers and guards to whom much
credit Is due and in our opinion special
mention should be made of Captnln James

THE SHERIFF.
Tho sheriff shall be entitled to n fee ot

judgment for taxes and it Is tho duty or
tho sheriff to pay for the acknowledgment
when the samo Is made. This Is tbo only
provision In the Colquitt act concerning
sheriffs fees In cases that are prosecuted
to final Judgment nnd refers to the ono
Item of cost only to-wit: tho soiling and
making of the deed to tho purchaser. The
rent of the sheriffs fees will bo roguJated
by tho general fee bill and bo may charge
uuch Losts for hla services In these tax
suits as ho would charge In any other civil
caee; provided that he shall charge no

fees to be charged by him In easo tho suit
Is prosecuted to final Judgment; reducing
It however to $1 In caso tho taxes etc.
