Stolen gasoline hoses, clothing
reported to local police
Levelland police received
reports this week of clothing
stolen from a pickup, stolen
gasoline hoses and stolen tools
in three incidents.
Kathy Coats told police
Monday that someone had
taken several clothing items
F-150 pickup when she went
into United Supermarket on
College Avenue. She told offi-
cers she was only in the store
about five minutes around
noon that day. The items taken
included four men’s leisure
suits, four pair of slacks, five
from*the~back of he7l976 Ford Wrangler leans and 18
shirts m .assorted colors. The

Seven gasoline hoses were
stolen and five others were
damaged at the Exxon station
at 102 College Ave. Freddie
Riddle told officers that some-
time between 10 p.m. Friday
and 7:30 a.m. Saturday, some-
one cut five of the gasoline
hoses and took seven hoses
that were stored in a large
metal cabinet behind the sta-
tion. Hie cabinet was not
locked at the time of the
incident. The estimated value
of the stolen property and the
damages is saiu iu be $800.
Monty Peck told police
Friday that someone had taken
a lathe from his shop at 1628
Houston St. Peck told officers
the lathe had been in the shop
since about July 27. Peck
noticed the door to the shop
open on Friday and then dis-
covered the lathe missing.
Several of the windows of the
shop were broken and it was
not known if entry was gained
through the windows or the
door. The lathe is described as
a Southbend six-inch lathe,
gray in color, and it is said to
be worth $600.
Chauncey to be here Thursday
State Comptroller Bob Bul-
lock has announced that Jim
Chauncey from his Lubbock
Field Office will be at the
Hockley County Courthouse in
the commissioner's courtroom
from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 16. A
comptroller's representative is
available to assist local resi-
dents at the courthouse the
third Thursday of each month.
Bullock urges anyone with
problems or questions concern-
ing state taxes to contact
Chauncey at the courthouse in
person or call the Lubbock
Field Office at (806) 796-0691.

She died at 6:20 a.m.
Friday at Brentwood Nursing
Home in Lubbock after a,
lengthy illness.
She was a native of Lock-
hart and moved to the Level-
land area in 1959.

of Lubbock, Pedro and Pablo of
Longmont, Colo., Comelio of

He was bom on Oct. 30,
1939 in Levelland. He was a
Baptist and was a disabled
Army veteran. He served in
Europe and the United States.
He married Dale Pevytoe on
April 30, 1961 in Levelland.
He is survived by his wife;
two daughters, Kathy Eveans
and Debbie Williams, both of
Woodrow; his mother, Elsie
Williams of Levelland; and two
