Moving Day
Tuesday marked a historical day in the County s medical
history as the Comanche Community Hospital closed and
the first patients were moved into the new CCMC facility.
Comanche Human Resources
office closing January 2006
According to Stephanie
Goodman, a spokeswoman for
the Texas Health and Human
Services Commission, local
HHSC offices in Comanche,
Baird, Breckenridge, and
Coleman will close in 2006.
HHSC will start closing offices
and reducing its overall
workforce in April 2006. The
nearest full-service office for
Comanche clients will be in
Brownwood.
HHSC offices are where
Team can apply far Medic-
aid, food stamps, and other
state programs.
Texas HHSC will close
these local offices when it be-
gins using call centers in 2006.
The closings will affect some
15 to 20 employees in these
four offices, according to
Goodman. She also said that
these four local offices were
not seeing many clients, one of
the main reasons they were
selected for closing.
Clients will be able to reach
these call centers by dialing 2-
1-1 for information.
Goodman said, “Under this
new system, anyone can handle
their case or can give them an
update. We realize that for
some people this may mean a
drive to get a face-to-face in-
teraction, but we think that
there will be plenty of other
options to help people get the
assistance they need.”
Statewide, 2,900 state em-
ployees will lose their jobs, but
will be offered other jobs within
the state protective services
program.
Jhe new qgll centers will
need approximately 2,500 em-
ployees. Those employees will
have to live at those call center
location areas.
Beginning in January 2006,
HHSC will close 99 offices
over a 10-month period, main-
taining 167 full-time, full-ser-
vice offices.
Forty-four new satellite of-
fices will be opened on
prescheduled days of the
week. And a staff of 200 will
be employed by HHSC to
travel to local community cen-
ters once every other week.

THE COMANCHE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL staff on hand, Tuesday morning, July 12, stopped on this very busy mo\ ing
day just long enough for a photo, and then continued the huge job of moving patients, staff, and supplies to the new Comanche
County Medical Center. “I'd say this is quite a historic day for Comanche County as we close this hospital facility and move into
the new medical facility,” said CEO Evan Mooie. The new facility has 38 beds with four private rooms and 16 semi-pri\ •
rooms, two state of the art operating rooms, an emergency room, a public cafeteria, a Level IV trauma designation, cardiac rehab
