Dave Bohannon Shoots Tom
McCoy With a Winchester.
Bpeit.il to tlio Fort Wor.li Q-zM-.
Dunoon Dec. 16. News roach
ed litre today of the killing of Tom
McCoy at Emit I. T. last night by
Davo Bohannon. There aro many
conflicting rumors in regnd to the
killing. Several reputable oitizenH
of tho territory who were horn to-
day say that it waH a deliberate
cold bloodod murder and that Mc-
Coy was shot in tho back. Both
men had been drinking. All the
stories agree that McCoy died al-
most instantly boing shot through
the heart. The Ilorald this even-
ing publishes an aocouut Irom
Durant giving an interview with
Bohannon. In substance ho says:
"I utii at McCoy's to dinner. Alter
dinner he brought out a bottle and
wo drank. Wu left his house to-
gether and went to a neighbor's.
Oa tho way he attempted to grab
my Winchester saying Nick
Keepor was comin and would kill
him. Kiiepor and McCoy had a
shootiug scrape about three weeki
ago and since then McCoy haB been
drinking until ho had reached the
point ot 'snakes.' Ho finally suc-
ceeded in taking away my pistol
and stuck it in his waiotband.
When we alighted ho pulled a
pocket pistol and lii'od at mo three
times. I tried to get him to stop
but ho picked up a shotgun and as
ho rained it to tiro I shot him with
tho Winchester. I regret killing
him but it was his life or mine."
