Cunningham were both born in 1847 in Tennessee. They
were living in Trenton, Tennessee when they decided to
move to Texas in 1897. There daughter Mellie who was a
school teacher had died from typhoid fever and a son James
N. "Newt" had already moved to Texas near Gober and mar-
ried Tera M. Chandler. Their youngest child Bessie was nine
years old when they moved. She attended school at Prescott
which was later consolidated with Philadelphia and Prairie
View to form the 3P school. Their youngest son Charlie mar-
ried Lizzie Chandler. Charlie died, leaving his wife and small
son Carthel. Lizzie died soon after and Carthel was reared by
his mother's sister and father's brother, Tera and Newt Cun-
ningham. Carthel was married to Edna Bridges whose father
was a physician in Gober and they had two sons. The oldest
Cunningham son was Lee who married Lena Stewart. He

ents of a son Leslie Gray. Their daughter Myrtle became the
wife of Walter Robinson.
