Gentlemen:
I have yours of the 12th and am very glad to try to help in-
crease the extent and revive the interest of publicity that I think
will be helpful to our sugar Land interests.
Under date of April 5th I wrote a letter to Mr. Louviere and
Mr. James and in my opinion the data that 1 suggested therein would
be much more appropriate and have much more inherent value than any
resume or history of my present civic and business connections or a
brief detailed review of my career with imperial. My suggestion of
publicity is based on the practical appeal of the publicity and I
don't think any review of any personal career would have anything
more than a passing interest to people who happen to know me. I
will try to duplicate in this letter the fundamentals of my recoi-
meadations in my letter of April 5th. HoweverI claim no experience
or talent as an advertising man even though I am personally convinced
that proper and efficient handling and more or less frequent re-
production of the items recommended constitute the basia of advertising
that should be valuable to us.
I have in mind such things as the housing development, the
building of new homes on attractive sites that is taking place at
sugar Land, the expense to the Industries of opening up new areas for
the sale of lots which have been bought by residents of both Fort
Bend and Harris County.
The number of employees of the ougar Company should be men-
tioned. The total salaries and wages paid to these citizens of the
great southwest clearly set out on both a monthly and annual basis.
The amount of duty paid by the Sugar Company to be recited
equaling an average of each year's expenditure by the Jnited
States Government in appropriations for Texas harbors, canals,
waterways or other similar objects of Texas needs.
