Mrs. Lip'-hiu's condition is deiii
duclty more hopeful today
She was delivered of a still born
babe yesterd y morning and during
tho whole of the day there peemed
little if any hope foi her. 13 it this
morning sho rallied was able to
take nourishment and now the
physicians think hei chances for
recovery very good.
She ha been rational at inter
als and has been questioned con-
cerning tho fearful ocouirences of
Friday night but has been unable
to throw any light upon tho matter.
Sho has made it known however
.hat she was struck while in bed
and as soon as sho awoke. When
asked whether the muiderers wore
white or black she said she did not
know.
Whethor she will bo able to recall
anything definite when sho regains
strength and powers of mm J re-

The an est of suspicious charac-
ters has continued aDd up to the
present some sixty persons have
been apprehended. Most of these
have been let go; others are being
held on the general charge of va
granoy.
Two of the arrests wore of more
than passing imeiest. Nothing
has developed to connect them very
strongly with the murder and yet
the oflicers feel that they are im-
portant people to hold. Ono is a
negro who is evidently part Indian
a man over six feet high and
magnificently proportioned with
copper colored skin and a bad eye
and a villa nous countenance gener
ally. He gives his name as Burrell
Bradford. His companion is a
boyish looking white who olaims
to be 20 yeirs old but looks much
younger lie answora to the name
of George Wilson. They were
arrested at the Misssuri K-ineas and
Texas stock pens.
Theso two men wero seen for
several days loafing in the neighbor
hood of Tenth and Roes and many
persons noticed them.
Several days ago the negro went
to Mr. Miller Moore's residence just
across tho street from tho Lipshiu
place and asked to bo allowed to ueo
the telephone. He was told there
was no telephone in the house.
Then ho stood around and talked
some time his whole manner Bhow
ing that he wanted to get inside the
house.
A day or two before the tragedy the
I twain were given something to ea'
3t a house not far away and one of
1 them was heard to propose to the
I other that they go to the little store
onthe corner of the street meaning
the Lip'hiu place
On Friday evening tnoy wore
noticed loitering about tho storo.
When arrested the negro had in
his pocket a koy which fitted a lock
in the Lipshitx house for which the
key W3S taid to bo missing. It is a
common lock howevor that almott
any key would unlock.
There is not much in all thin but
tho men will be held as long as pos
Bible and their record looked up.
