Make Tracks.
J. C. Crippeu the well known
market man had 3 chase at an eaily
hour this morning that made him
short of breath for the balance of
tho day.
Ho was ccming don to his
market about t o'clock when ho
spied a man lurking in tho shadows
of tho Alexander house corner
Fifth and Mary. Mr. Crippen
know the man had no bueineES there
so b' gave cha?e.
Fir some three or four blocks
they sail lickoty-split now Crip-
pen now tho burglar seeming to
gain. Finally Crippeu whoso legs
r.ro short but who handles them
1 ke a thoroughbred seemed to
bo making a permanent g3in. Tho
thief looked over his shoulder and
saw that something must bo done;
so he dropped an armful of goods
he carried and then as Mr. Crip
pen said simply vanished from
sight.
The bundle he dropped proved to
be a suit of underclothes the prop-
erty of Mr. A. J. Morris aud a
table cloth belonging to Mrs. Mor-
his wl o ki'i-ps a boan ing house in
the Alexander residence. In addi-
tion to thpe thing tho I thiof
had taken Mr. Morris' hat shoes
aud watoh which ho still has.
Mr. Crippen could not tell
whether he was bhok or wlnto.
