Ball team Has received a telegram
stating that the Fort Ringgold team
will arrive here July 2nd for a se-
ries of games with our team. Some
good base ball is promised.
The game of baso ball at Point
Isabel Sunday was interesting dnd
well contested. The personnel of
the teams as recently published in
'jhe Herald was slightly changed.
Bacho the short stop of the Po3t
team was unable to attend and Cop-
ley of Co. II was substituted play-
ing center field and Sneath coming
in to short. Brown Troop G was
rabstitnted for "Walcott the second
baseman of tho second team . Brown
playing right field and O'Donnel
first baso.
Tho features of the game were
catcher Gibbons' long run and catch
of a fdul fly -well out towards
first base and Phillips' catch of a
pop-up fiy near line from homo to
first. Tho catch was not a difficult
one but in rqnning he stumbled in
a tuft of grass an 1 caught tne ball
while falling and did not allow it
to touch the ground.
A very remarkable feature was
the strike out by Phillips in tho
fourth inning. He struck at and
touched overy ball that came Over
the plato making several foul hits
and three foul tips which by being
caught within ton foot of homo base
became strikes and Phillips was out
without missing the ball or having
a strike called that he did not striko
at Tho second ttJSm won by a score
of61o 4.
A summary of the game will
appear in to-morrow's Hrerad.

Among the appointments sent in

this office. Judge Noonan having
espoused the ambitions of Mr.Mills-

fight for Blanchard.
The nezt fight for a good dfiice is

in the field certain and one proba-

and Durst and Mr. Linton probably .
The latter has been backed by Rent-
