EDITORIAL
As in any field of work an investment
of time and labor will invariably bring good
'sults, so it is with gunnery. We have
invested two months of tedious, monoton-
ous drills. And lo! we have produced a
fighting, shooting ship; one that has made
a record which well might be the envy
of every ship in the battle fleet.
We can look back upon this work in
years to come with the satisfaction, and
realization that our work was well done
and that our home on the old "Wahoo"
was not only a happy one but an efficient
one.

TEXAS vs. NEW YORK
In a disappointing game, from the spec-
tators' standpoint, as well as from the
teams the New York defeated the Texas
5-4. Wimberly pitched fine ball for the
Texas but was not supported to any ex-
tent. The score by innings follows:
TEXAS 1 0 1 00 00020
NEW YORK 0 2 0 1 0 1 0 0 0 1
Batteries for the Texas Wimberly and
Beall; for the New York Daley, Kress
and Harris.TEXAS TRIMS THE ARK
In an interesting Base Ball game the
TEXAS took the Arkansas into camp
to the tune of 4-1. The line up for the
TEXAS follows:- Sampson-SS; Davis
2nd; Cutler-3rd; Kelly-1st; Myers-CF;
Wilkinson (Ensign) LF; Osti-RF; Wim-
ber'ey-P; Bea!-C;
This was the opener for the official
base ball season and from the looks of
the "Wahoo" outfit we should give a
good account of ourselves for the remain-
der of the games.
