MARILOIS KIRKSEY, BA '57; Caixia 24071,
20000 Rio de Janeiro, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil writes
about her work in Brazil:
Now 1978 is over and we can see just what was
done here at the Case Batista da Amizade as we look
at the reports. We knew we kept busy and the
overall look tells us why...In numbers, we see that
896 people were enrolled in the Mothers' Club... We
had 18 different neighborhood clubs meeting... The
doors are open! One of the real victories of the year
was the coming of Joselio Gomes de Souza. He had
grown up in the Recife Baptist Community Center
and certainly identified with the problems of the
guys that came to our center...I appreciate all the
news I hear from you and hope that such a
newsletter as this helps you understand a bit of what
I'm doing in. Brazil. Many of you heard a lot about
this country during the Foreign Mission Emphasis
through book studies and films. It is a real mission
field with real needs and hungry hearts. Thank you
for the part you play in supporting the work
financially and prayerfully. Thus we can continue.
Thanks, Marilois for sharing your work with us and
we shall remember you in our prayers.

Rd. Ft. Leavenworth, Kan. 66027, send greetings in
the name of our Lord. They have had three activity
packed years with the American military community
at Crailsheim, West Germany. They write:
During our last six months there, we were able to
squeeze in a bit more traveling-with Jerry's
unforgettable holiday trip to Luther sites in
East Germany beginning the year. There were
short family outings to Zurich, Vienna, and
Berchtesgaden as well--all such beautiful
segments of Gods creation. And finally, in
May, Jerry and Sherry joined a Heidelberggroup for eight beautiful days in Israel. Jerry is
now a student at the US Army Command and
General Staff College--along with almost
1000 other officers representing US Forces and
50 allied nations. This change of pace from
pastoring has both its joys and its frustrations.
Here the Lord has blessed us with good neigh-
bors and schools, a strong Christian coni-
munity, and health to enjoy it all.
